I use to believe that, but we have enough of a sample size of battle rappers vs industry artists.
Battlers really struggle to body them the way they should. Only battles I can think of where the battler came in and properly 30’d their opponents were Diz/Canibus and Goodz/Cassidy. Outside of that, they are just lackluster battles.
What other ones were there? Shine cooked Millz something vicious too. With like a Hollow vs Budden, it wasn’t a total slaughter 🫨 because Budden is kinda a mutant too, he’s not Kiss or one of these guys with that basic flow and simple shhit. Budden is/was nice nice, that’s why he was able to compete, imo. He still lost tho.

I know nikkas here hate DNA, but the "crazier than crazy glue" "this shyt nutty" meltdown from Ness was a clear 30 for DNA.
I think the battle between Joe Budden and Hollow was proof that there are levels to this shyt. Mainstream artists may have battled in the past, but it was never on some big stage shyt, where they had to deliver more than just bars and more than just "I got chains and whips" and "you're broke".
