There's a lot of battle rappers that don't "write" their rhymes, as in physically write them on a pen or pad/smart phone. You got to understand they've been doing this for YEARS & come from an era where you have to remember 30-40 raps. It gets to a point where you eventually don't need to write to create & remember you rhymes. Memorizing in your head really isn't that hard when your realize "this is what they do." Guys like Clips, Nuborn, Dizaster, Hollow, etc do not write their rhymes down.
I actually would rather guys write their material down. You have sharper material & don't forget dope shyt, which usually happens to someone like Dizaster, Hollow, etc every single battle. They always forget something.
You have a guy like Dizaster who can't sit still to even write his rhymes.
You have a mufukka like Snoop, a fully capable rapper, who uses ghost writers because his lazy ass will just goes to the booth & freestyle.
I've never been high on the "non writing" approach. Mufukkas need to write imo.
Interested in seeing the road to slaughter & their process, because I don't think a lot of guys "write."
