with industry dudes it always feels like they want attention more than an actual fukkin battle

you aint see Ab-Soul be all extra in interviews n shyt talkin about battling for months before his shyt with daylyt, nikka just did it and put it out

what's stoppin any of these dudes from walkin up to smack like "aye im tryna be on the card for the next event vs. ___" we know damn well URL is gonna set that shyt up no questions asked, the infrastructure is already there, all they gotta do is show up

i dont even watch these nikkas talk about battle rap culture anymore at this point, just shut up and do it fam :camby:

Agreed!

I just watched a few minutes of the Ortiz interview. I fux with dude but not at all keen on him saying he could beat any battle rapper (or any rapper period)

If these mainstream dudes think they can just jump in and dominate in the big leagues, why not do it

It's a whole lot of talking and not a lot of battling

I've been saying for years, regardless if I like these new nyggas or not, they have to get new talent on their big events. You can't keep recycling the same names. It gets to the point where you put matches together that make no sense, because they have a name.

They really need to plan Nome/SM a year in advance.

I like the fact that they are selective about what new nyggas they are willing to let on those cards. You can't just let anyone on. However, they have about a roster of 20-30 pg nyggas. Surely they can find maybe 2 or 3 they can work in right?

If I'm a PG nygga, why would I sign a contract with no hope of being on a big stage? You can't really go to other leagues anymore unless it's your home league according to the new contract.
Exactly. Why ain't Young X on this shyt?

So either someone cant make it or URL just added another match to SM4 because Head ice said he got a call from Beasley and said he's headed to Summer Madness.

He didnt say he was battling but its pretty much implied

I can't say I'm the biggest Head Ice fan, but he's been quietly putting in work collecting these wins. He deserves it

I wonder if they bought that Head Ice/X-factor battle from Gorilla Warfare. I just can't think of any other battle they could give to Ice that would make sense

can you blame him? this is extremely close to summer madness right?

Nyggas like Snoop don't understand the battle rap game. Your gonna have plenty of nyggas coming off summer madness into this event.

We all know Surf has no business taking battles close together. Look what happened with Clips/Calicoe.

That's why Organik tries to not schedule his events when other events are going on. It ruins the quality of the product.

I would not be surprised if any of these nyggas hustled Snoop. I could easily see Hitman & Calicoe planning their battle together.

to play devil's advocate here, surf is a full time rapper, wouldn't you say?

havent heard much about dudes personal life, but even if he has a 9 to 5 (let's say he does), he should still have enough to time to put the pen to the paper and write 3 rounds for hitman and 1 cable tv round for daylyt. the hitman beef has been cookin for a minute, no reason he shouldnt have some bars on deck. and daylyt has got to be one of the easier opponents to write for, so much ammo there it's more of a matter of sifting through what hits and what doesnt i would think.

it's not like these dudes do the sh1t for free. surf gets at least $4-$5k a battle, possibly more, plus national tv exposure in this case. 2-3 months should be enough time to deliver 4 rounds worth of good material unless hes just lazy or distracted with street bullsh1t

It sounds nice, but everyone is different

For some of these guys, they can come up with material pretty quickly. For others, they have to lock themselves in a basement for months. I don't know what his method is, but I do know that the quality of the content has been terrible lately due to all these battles being close together.

I get what your saying, but the reality is some of these guys just can't do it. There's no point of making any assumptions. It's just like in school. Some nyggas have to really study for the test & some just show up & pass the test with minimal effort.

Clips, DNA, & Arsonal are just naturals at coming up with material in a short amount of time

Young X and moreso Brizz deserve a SM4 battle. Brizz vs Head Ice sounds better than any other matchup they could come with.
