Told y'all, Clips taking this battle so he can walk into the Hollow battle in the fans good graces.
I'm sure Hollow has some good material about Clips half assing it, but unfortunately for Hollow their battle is on URL and Clips last couple URL performances have been strong (Surf/Tay Roc/T-Rex). Now Charlie is taking on the strongest man in the rookie class, it's a win win for him.

I'll be the only person in the world that actually likes the John John v Prep match-up a lot. I wasn't looking forward to either person being on the card, but this match-up makes it much more interesting. They will both suffer if it's not a good battle.

How is it a win-win for clips battlin Top

then Top is gonna make that jump to top 10 from the Proving Grounds

It's forever going to wild to me that these new, relatively unproven dudes get (got) to go on UFF and get that exposure and probably more views in 1-3 battles than some vets have for a year's worth.

I understand putting the hungry dudes out there with high expectations, but I forever wonder what would have happen in a UFF tournament full of mid tier+ dudes. Would it have been watered down trash with mixtape bars or would we get classics in a row?

I don't buy into Verb's big talk, he's battling for his career here.
Be honest, are any of you interested in seeing Verb again if he half asses it and loses to Brizz?
Verb is not an automatic click for me anymore, and that's coming from a guy who thought Verb was in the goat discussion back in 2013 after his clear wins over Cortez, Arsonal & Dizaster.

I guess. Just like we "needed" Cons vs B Magic, but in the end that battle didn't have the type of replay value that everyone expected.
I like the rookie v vet thing, but I'll never turn up my nose at a good match-up between two talented, hungry competitors.

Nah we "needed" Con vs. Magic back in 2013. By the time that battle was announced, the interest wasn't nearly as high as it once was. Both Con & Magic had their stock drop noticeably in the past yr & a half

Maybe I wasn't clear. When I said showed up with two rounds I meant "showed up with two clean prepared rounds". He can get away with freestyling heavy in one of his rounds if he doesn't fumble in either of the other two.
Vs Jones he fumbled in the 2nd and totally lost it in the 3rd. He only came with one clean round.
I can't argue about Clips having subpar material, as he's capable of making average ass material sound good.

How is it a win-win for clips battlin Top

1. He has a built-in excuse for not winning convincingly. All he has to do is give a Tay Roc rematch level performance and everyone will be happy. Hollow didn't beat Surf convincingly (he lost in the building imo), but no one cared when Hollow v Lux rolled around.

2. He's battling Hollow next, who I'm sure has material regarding Clips work ethic. The URL fans aren't going to care about Clips half-assing other leagues when he's been stepping up to the plate on URL.
But without the Top battle, Hollow can talk about Clips half-assing everything around & after Rex and it might hit.
