Dont always agree with you but this is a solid analysis. :myman:

On a side note: though i dont think Magic could make that transition to a 'headliner. He's very dope but lacks the it factor the 'headliners' have.

It's totally debatable but I think the B-Magic that faced Chilla is a headliner. The bars were incredible & he had finally developed a little bit of stage presence. I just didn't know those bars were a one time deal, I thought he had just elevated his pen to god level.

:what: you complaining about URL finally giving us a good battle? They're finally promoting the PG's. That's a good thing and it should have happened sooner.

Rookies vs Vets is promoting the PGs. Making them waste material against each other a few weeks before that on each other is bad promo. Feel free to tell me what makes that battle so good?

I agree with a lot of this dudes post. But this part got me thinking uhhh. Because this whole rap battle thing is based in creativity. And this dude's saying alright everybody's doing X.. and this one guy's doing Y. Well shyt, we need him to be doing X. C'mon, that's not the case. Saga could EASILY go his whole career without doing the same stuff as everybody else. Lux didn't beat Calicoe because he's some god MC, he beat him because he wrote the best shyt that could be written FOR Calicoe at that moment. The shyt was super personal but still allowed him to flex lyrically with his set ups. Nowadays, people don't write anything personal, and THAT'S why the shyt gets repetitive and wack. They take basic gun bars and apply em to any battle. And yall pop for it! The problem is how easy it is to get the crowd to react with those basic ass gun bars.

Don't think you understand how hard it is to write witty non violent bars and get the crowd to react to them on a the big stage. Pretty much only been done by Lux. Saga is no Lux. Dude has his work cut out for him if he wants to go somewhere in battle rap.

Magic's performance vs Chilla is arguably the GOAT 3rounder :wow:

I still go back to that battle like WTF was that nikka on that night?! :damn:

Son came out the gate SWINGING on Chilla :ohlawd:

If Saga can even be mid tier consistent with his style, I'd praise him (no pun). I easily believe writing non-violent rounds is twice the work and much shallower well to pull from.

Well even if we were to just talk about how it changed the perception of Battlezone members, I'd say many of us are twice as excited about the Suge v. Saga than we were before seeing this battle. So you gotta think that the average strictly URL fan who might tend to overhype URL battles is calling Saga v Prep a classic, and purchased a ticket for Rookies v Vets immediately after watching the battle.
On the flip I think it showed Prep isn't quite ready for the big stage. As of the end of last week, the Prep v John John wasn't completely locked in yet (despite it being sold as part of the card). Prep isn't ready imo, and John John is battling on the West Coast later that day. The best move would be for URL to scrap that battle entirely. No one will complain if it doesn't happen. It might save Prep's career.

:stopitslime: so more promotion is a bad thing? They're not wasting material since they were directing most of their content directly towards each other. The vast majority of those bars can't be used against TODD or Suge and they've had well over a month to prepare.

This was good for both of them since they're coming off of losses and Saga didn't make it to TV. Now they're going into RvV with some momentum. The same people who will be in the crowd watched their battle and are probably fukking with them a lot more now. If their last memory of Prep was of him choking the crowd might be ready to turn on him quicker. Now they're gonna be waiting for rebuttals. They'll want to hear Saga bring those same bars. This was a smart move on Smack's part.

I gotta explain why the battle was good?

You in here mad about nothing:heh:

Yes unfortunately that was Magic in a rare form although that battle being in a small setting have contributed to the dope athosmophere it has. Magic on a big stage has been meh tbh (vs clips, concieted)
