So since the thread has devolved into silly shyt.. I have a question.
Given the nature of "streaks" in battle rap, what would JJDD have to do to become a legit fan favorite (like Roc and current Sug?) Is it even possible?

I think TODD is more popular than we realize
He's not well liked here obviously but he's got a pretty decent following among the casual fans
Not on the level of a top tier but the crowd fukks definitely with him
I like him too tbh. To me he's better than we give him credit for
That said he'll never be a mega star. he's never gonna be looked at like a clips or hollow. But to say he's not a fan favorite at this point is I think is a bit of a stretch. He's a fan favorite just not a tbz favorite

Yeah he was supposed to battle Ness Lee on that Scrambles 4 Money card. Was looking forward to seeing two of my favorites.
On some real shyt, I'm pretty sure JJD is a lot more popular in real life than this site makes him out to be.

JJDD has had a good year. I thought he was pretty much 50/50 and the multiple choice sounded so overdone. Like he wins a battle, then his next two are debatables or losses. This year, he's been more consistent than I've ever seen him.
He is much more popular in the real life than he is one here. I think he has more connections in the music industry than the average battle rapper too.
I can admit that I'm a John John hater, flat out. I just don't like his post Proving Grounds Smack/URL style of battling. Him flipping other people's shyt, I can't stand it. Part of the process of him winning battles includes him sucking some of the entertainment value out of his opponents rounds. Strategy wise it's effective, but man... I ain't gotta explain it Rae & Ghostface said it all 20 years ago

I def recognize that TBZ's attitude towards JJDD is different, but I was really asking if it's possible for him to become that serious fan favorite (Roc/Sug), and if so, how would he do it?
I think he can. I really used to think Sug sucked the air out of rooms, but he refined a bit and went on a burn that caught the casual and serious fan's ear. I still don't understand the Tay Roc love to this day, but it's there.. and he keeps it hot by giving the crowd what they want.
After the Way battle, I got a funny picture in my head of JJDD having like 2-3 more battles where he gets the right opponent at the right part of the night (since that's insanely important in URL stuff) and suddenly he'll be the guy.
and that thought just makes me lol
