@wizworld I agree with the bias shyt but I feel like WGH shyt is way more blatant. atleast sdh (from what I've seen) has a more diverse pool of talent, I could see nikkas gettin hype a couple times every battle

but aint no way in hell im going to a WGH event and genuinely reacting all night to 12 nikkas using the same damn style :martin:

I think most of the WGH guys live in Brooklyn. They live similar lifestyles and enjoy the same shyt. The cheering isn't fake, it's more loud & obnoxious if anything. They are really just starting to diversify more. If all the SDH dudes lived within forty five minutes of each other they'd probably sound and act alike too.

thats valid i guess but at the same time Mook, Head Ice, Rex, Lux, Jae Millz, K Shine and Clips all came up in the same area--some of them in the same time period--and sound nothing alike.

it makes sense to sound like your peers starting out but at some point you gotta flesh your own style out.

I agree, but there was no "Wegohard" events for the Harlem battlers to convene and bond. They have uploaded footage from 7 different WGH events in the last 3 months. That's a lot of events, these guys convene at least twice a month. There also wasn't publicly available footage that allowed you to study the guys that were popping. So if someone did something hot, you might not remember exactly how they did it. The guys who were in cliques together in Harlem sounded somewhat similar back then. I could hear similarities between Rex, Mook & Shine. I watched old freestyles with Jae Millz & Charlie Clips, I could hear similarities. But the Harlem guys cliqued up in their area, then went to battle another clique from 10-40 blocks away. A lot of these WGH guys actually clique up at WGH.

I've seen this happen on the open mic scene in NYC. The more you go, the more you subconsciously gravitate towards what gets the biggest crowd reaction.

One positive element of having a WGH type environment is that people who come from the WGH platform support each other, and sometimes act like WGH is the only thing that matters. It's good that they are more focused on bringing their A game vs their opponent, as opposed to trying to call out bigger names.

The biggest negative element is how difficult it becomes to flesh out your own style. Once you do something fresh & new, somebody in the crowd will come and take a piece of it. And again, Youtube just makes the situation worse. Nowadays, when a battle leaves an event thinking "Why were they feeling that guy, and not me?" they can click on all of that guy's battles and study how he captures the crowd. I figure those who really want big battle rap success will travel a bit & battle in different leagues.

The best part of SDH is the juxtaposition of the gritty NC guys and the goofy guys from those random places in GA like Gwinett/Clayton etc.

On WGH... I find it that the more people hang there they start PG stepping and using that Murda/Prez flow. Even Jaz uses that shyt now.

SDH guys are wayyy better and more original that's why lol. Doubt it has anything to do with regional bias

lol it's pretty much the same stuff, just different regions. If they are way better, then why don't they have more big name representatives?

Now this is the part where YOU claim bias, hahahaha

I said SDH has more talented battlers, not more popular. Being a "big name" doesnt automatically equate to actually being good. WGH probably gets better placements just cause they're based in NY.

But you already knew this
