I'm taking about the rap game in general, it's harder for NY artists to get a buzz now than when he first started rapping. Labels don't think NY sounding artists are marketable so a lot of artists here incorporate sounds from different regions. So for Rain, I could see the "I'm from North Carolina" as a built in excuse for doing that.

Gahdamn that Sadat X song you quoted is my jam. Dude made a grownup rap song that isn't corny, preachy sounding or boring, and that's not easy to do. As a reference for battle rap fans, it's like a rap song version of X-Factor's "Priorities" angle.

Does Hitman ever get booked on URL again?

He asks for a lot of money, it doesn't seem like he's in particularly high demand, his last battle was ass, and now something can legit pop off between him and Rain.

We all know Rain is a big guy behind the scenes for URL, producing the trailer beats and what not.

Holla had a strained relationship with Smack to begin with and this weekend I think made it much worse. Something tells me we wont see him for a while. But then again I've heard rumors of Hitman vs K-Shine at SM6 so who knows

I think the fan reception to Hitman is the part that URL has to figure out. If Hitman wants to fight Rain that could easily happen without it ever possibly affecting an event.

Part of me says URL can't really afford to miss out on anything that resembles a grudge match. They can't let Hitman walk away without battling K-Shine & Tay Roc.

Let's just say Hitman records a diss record to Rain & K-Shine, then Rain & K-Shine make a record coming back at him. Then Verb jumps in and disses Rain. Now it's a battle rap thing again, and everybody wants to see Hitman v Shine & possibly even a Verb vs Rain one off. It's really been Verb dissing Rain all these years anyway, not Hitman. There's a lot of ways URL can work this as promo, provided they can cool the situation down.

Yeah he def did the angry oldhead thing correct on this. My homeboy did all the camera and art work for this and other stuff in that period, said that there's a lot of post-street conscious heads on that scene. Different focus, different message. Much less embarassing than some of these 30-40 year olds acting like high schoolers.
