Solomon is trash to me. But he was spitting his ass off in this battle.
Battle rappers aren't smart. Downplaying the person you're about to battle is dumb, because if you beat them, then what did it matter if they're not any good?
If I was battling someone, I'd talk about how dope they are, and push it in the fans heads, so if I win, it looks like an amazing victory.
I've never seen it work. Mike P has a 30 minute blog of saying Twork is the GOAT basically and he beat Twork pretty clear. Both techniques have their downfall. If your opponent pays attention to you doing that, they can pick up on that shyt and get you in a battle. Gives them an advantage of an angle if they can pull it off and execute it well. Either way, no matter what psychological games you play...those bars and that performance better one up whoever you go up against.
You see this phenomenon in boxing and MMA too. I think a lot of guys gotta downplay their opponents in order to solidify their own confidence though.Battle rappers aren't smart. Twork was on every platform saying JC is the GOAT, and might've just 30'd him
The "You think I'm nice" retort or angle doesn't really hold much weight. It's good for a few bars but you can't even win a full round off that. But conversely, you can use the "he's super dope" as a way to manipulate a win to make it seem bigger prior to the battle. It's a psychological game, but that almost always works. Not saying it's gonna give you the win but it's a good way to make it matter more if you get the win.

I get that part of the advertising but there’s ways to still big up your opponent without discrediting him. You’re not gonna get an extra sells saying “This nikka is trash” either imo. I think there’s a balance. I’m not saying you have to praise him to the high heavens but downplaying them doesn’t really help your cause when you’re trying to big up your resume. If you beat all trash nikkas then how are you good?Nah I ain't biggin' up ma opponent like that....ma goal from the 1st round to the last round is kicking yo ass... You know how boring a face off is if only one person tryna sell the fight lol. Let alone sell yall matchup to the public individually. Surf/Shine, Mike P vs Yk, Red/Hitman, Hell Brizz/Prep even tho it never materialized to a battle lol. The back n forth trash talk is needed. Give me a reason to drop $35-$60 on the ppv lol.
Exactly. You can both talk about the greatness of your opponent and still announce yourself as the best. It’s what the top tiers (for the most part) do. Lux, Mook, Hollow, etc. will big their opponents up because they’re only battling you because they think you’re nice in the first place. But then again those guys are completely confident in themselves so there’s no need to downplay their opponents like that.I get that part of the advertising but there’s ways to still big up your opponent without discrediting him. Exactly. All the real top tiers do it. They never really downplay their opponent. They'll say they'll kill them, but they always put some respect on their names.Exactly. Someone needs to tell Bigg K this. When he clowns in his promos its hilarious, but he overdoes it at times, especially during the battle.
