It still kinda surprises me that so many people like Surf, honestly. He's really popular but he's not really that special at any particular component in battle rap. He makes good music though, I just wonder why it doesnt translate in his battles for me (someone who can be as lyrical as he is in his music shouldnt be reaching the way he does).

Yeah right. Mook isn't "ducking" anybody. If somebody came at him with his asking price for Math (nobody outside of TBZ gives a fukk about Hoffa so that won't happen) or Hollow (likely) he'd battle. Mook is an opportunist, he'll battle anyone for a price. The man didn't duck Lux after the Calicoe and Hollow battles, why would he duck Hollow at this point?

Getting an offer to battle Arsonal for $70k, turning it down and asking for $100k is low key ducking

Deep down inside Mook knows any of these new dudes could smoke him in the ring and destroy his "brand". So he's holding out for uber paydays rather than risk taking that inevitable L.

Mook went to college, hasn't paid his student loans yet. There's probably a lot of dirt out there on dude and he knows any battle rapper out for blood could drop some nasty personals on that stage

It really makes no sense for Mook to be so selective with the battles he takes unless he has something to hide. Consciously or subconsciously he knows any battle he takes there's a big chance of him holding that L.

I "get it", his strategy keeps his legacy on a pedestal which no other battle rap has managed to do. But at the end of the day, call it what it is... ducking.

I just think Mook has a figure and if nobody matches it he's not budging. I don't think it's about personal attacks. Someone hitting him with "student loan" bars are going to fail miserably. I mean this a man that is known to have gotten pistol whipped by a nikka and then did a song with him, yet it had zero effect on his brand.

I do agree that he's aware that one loss will end his mystique so he's being selective but I think if Ars offered 100K he'd battle him
