The battle rap connection is an extremely good look for rain. It's just a gift and a curse because it definitely it comes with stigma attached and fans make judgments. though it seems like he's finally shaking that and standing out on his own

I'm not sure that is accurate. Battle fans rarely support batters on the music side so how can you expect fans to support a rapper that don't battle? The reason I believe that being affiliated with battle rap is not that helpful, is because of the hate. Imo rain album is fire. But the majority of battle fans haven't even listen to it, and many battle fans are saying it is trash just to say it which cause less people to check it out.

Are there some pros? Sure but who knows what management or looks he would get without URL.
