What did he say that impressed you? This negro rhymed for 9 minutes straight, he ought to have a few quotables for you to drop.

It's getting to white rapper/fan level were people are more impressed with the technical aspect of it than what was actually said.

Before I answer that. do you look for quotables or do you look for lyrical skill and content? Migos, Young Dro, Gorilla Zoe and Plies have plenty of quotables

How did Lux impress you but BT didn’t

Seem to have a hard time giving a direct answer with this one though. :usure:

Dude is right. What Black Thought did was impressive, but it's just like The Roots full catalog, a lot of rhyming that just ran together.

Both. shyt, the quotes come from "lyrical skill and content." I mean look, it's nice he went for 9 straight minutes but none of that stuck with me. Lux had me hooked out the gate

"When a Boy from the Hood pops up on you, that's Furious" :whew:

I’m not having a hard time with anything. Quote all the quotables from Lux. I’ll wait. BT was spitting fire. BT said something like I’m Kanye ore Kardash, with his jaw wired after the car crash. I’ve seen that freestyle about 3 times and that was back in December. If you think I’m gonna r member every bar from a 9 min freestyle you’re crazy

Controversial opinion: BT didn't do shyt but rhyme for 9 minutes. None of it was memorable.

Black Thought was amazing, but he doesn't resonate with everyone. His voice & flow are tailored to complement the beats. If you ask me, he doesn't push the listener enough to become personally invested in Tariq Trotter. That's the main thing that hurts him when people put together top 10 or top 20 lists.
But I feel like he enjoys his privacy enough to not worry about being seen as underrated.

Them brothers said don't go from written bars filled with rage
To prime time television, in your gilded cage
Then forget us people in the world still enslaved
I barb wired my wrist, and let it fill the page

That's from the Funk Flex freestyle. If you weren't a fan of Thought in the past, those bars probably wouldn't resonate with you. But as someone who has followed his career on some hardbody OKP shyt I love those lines.

Well breh, that's exactly my point. People love to hold up that freestyle...and can't recall a thing from it.

You want Lux quotes though?

"Can't take the rap now, you're mumbling"

"I'll Terra/tear a nikka like ammonia"

"This nikka scared, I circled him in a square
Have your balls up or get balled up, cause it’s fair/it's sphere!"

"Bash him, he went for the mattress, Taxes!
Try'na go for Helen of Troy, Achilles/I'll kill these nikkas
I’m Brad Pitt"

I mean...:hubie:

The bolder wasn’t that hot and Surf said the Achilles bar

You like Lux’s freestyle more than BT. Cool bro :manny:

Another gripe I had with Lux’s freestyle was the fact that his flow was off at times and he had to compromise his flow in order to try to fit a whole bunch of words into a bar (similar to how Talib Kweli does)

BT on the other hand rode the beat to perfection :banderas:

As much as liked what Lux did on that freestyle, I did feel BT's more tho. Just something about how it was delivered and executed. And I'm not sure who posted but they're right if you're not really a Roots fan, you may not fukk with him for real.
