Say what was some of the first battles yall saw that got yall hooked on battle rap? I think I've mentioned this before but I got into battlerap in 2012 because of Lux/Cal, I was a Hop fan in general long before that, though, but SM2 got me super interested in battle rap. Then I went back and watched the classics and did the knowledge and have been a fan ever since.
My boy was a Yung Ill stan and put me on, then the hitman/verb/hollow performances, Sm1 shyt

And magic bodying lynx :banderas: shyt blew my mind

I guess i kinda watched em before that but not seriously at all

That whole "Sike I lied" rant was pretty funny. "Champion" wouldn't have really gotten off the ground if Tech didn't take it seriously.

I still don't think the entertainment value of Champion has gotten back to where it was with Vada. It really sucked how all that played out.

True. As much of of weirdo/fukk boy that Vada was, he did add value to the show. Champion has gotten rather stale at this point in terms of entertainment.

folks were rockin with Vada like that? I remember some people saying that Vada was kinda doin too much. being front an center and all.

I was the very first person who said he was a clown the first time I saw him. However, Vadafly on Champion WORKED. The quality of the show clearly went down, once left.

I don't think Jayblac is an entertaining personality at all. I do understand how others find him entertaining, but those videos he posts where it's just him in the damn room with that microphone are boring as hell. He shines when you surround him with the right people. Those Champion videos with DNA & Cortez were great. I just don't think he's a good solo act. I will take it a step further. Vada's blogs are more entertaining than Jayblac's blogs, when Jayblac was just a blogger.

Tech 9 is great, but there's so many episodes of Champion this year where he seemed like he just woke up out of bed.

Blaze battles on HBO around 01'-02'' can't remember the exact year it came out.....KRS hosted it....had Shells & Eyedea

Then that series on Showtime w/Quest Mccody in 03' (ma senior yr in high school)

Around 04' is when the Smack battles hit the net' I remember they use to get posted on a Misc. Dipset Website

I was kinda aware of Mook vs Lux cause Mook last verse on cam "Big L??....No....I'mma go Pun on You!! That's all ma peoples kept telling me about.

I remember Rex v Un kasa in the park being on the site

But Once Lux vs Miles dropped on youtube in 07' that was it..

I can't remember the first battle that got me into it, but it was definitely pre-2000.

Blaze Battles, MTV shyt was dope. Smack DVDs were like a Godsend for heavy into battle rap but didn't have a lot of platforms to watch it on.

I still feel Young Zee won the Shells battle. I think the Outsidaz fighting with Shells people kinda hurt the battle.

I agree, and I hate to sidetrack but I swear earlier today I was thinking that Shotgun Suge should be a bigger star than he is.

He has the voice. He has the presence. He has the wind to move his big ass around the stage. He's versatile enough to battle anyone. He has Jai's pen at his disposal. Even if Jai isn't helping him put bars together, Jai's critical analysis of Suge's opponents has to be worth something.
He has at least five signature moves, and multiple signature chants. He has celebrity fans.
He should be one of the top guys, but the Clips battle proved that he didn't really want the crown. Hopefully he sees all the love Twork is getting and tightens up.

You’re right.

Suge has the capability to make nyggas look crazy if he’s on his game.

If you don’t have the presence to withstand it, a Suge on his a-game will make you look crazy.

Reppah Rell was fire against Suge. Once Suge went, it was over. It just looked crazy the way Suge was barking on him and made him flinch. Not only that, all the shyt he was saying was hot.

Every time I say I want to see suge/jc, nyggas already know it’s just a bad battle for jd.

Been a fan of "battle rap" since the early reed days. But didn't really know about "URL" until SM2.

Actually im lying because i know i saw Hitman/Verb before SM2. So it was around that time frame. I just know the barbershop i was at was going crazy as hell cause Ness was coming back and he was actually really big in philly around that time.

Always been into battle rap use to battle in middle school. Get home and do text battles on forums. Late 90s radio down here had people calling in battling each other over the phone that’s what got me hooked
