So last week I put a homie onto Battlerap.
We were talkin about hiphop on some regular shyt.
So when I told him I was into Battlerap, he was like
: I’ve seen it too, my Russian patna put me on. I’ve only watched Oxxxymiron tho 
In the back of my mind I’m like
: breh only watched an Oxxxy battle, now he think he knows some shyt.. but what if put him on tho
I’m like
: Listen, I’m gonna show you the REAL battlerap shyt I’m on
So we watched JC vs Chilla as his first battle and his reactions throughout the battle were WILD
Litteraly on some
Watchin him catch the Holy Ghost during the battle took me back to them early Battlerap days, it was beautiful
He loved it, so I promised I’d put him on.
So later I linked the Aye Verb vs Hitman Holla battle as his 2nd battle.
He watched the 1st rd and had Hitman taking the first.
So I asked him who he had taking the 2nd.
He goes quiet and I didn’t hear anything for a couple hours so he clearly didn’t watch the other rounds yet doin other shyt.
Out of the blue he sends me a text..
He called me right after like
yooooo that 3rd?! 
You betta put me on cause this is crazy lmao

I wish I was this lucky, most of my attempts of putting folks onto battle rap usually ends in disaster. References go over heads or folks are like "put a beat on" like Freeway
When are you putting him onto Lux though
At least show him Lux vs Hollow

He fukked with it, but I could tell a LOT went over his head.
So I told him we’d revisit it when he’s used to higher level lyrisism, cause he simply couldn’t comprehend the depth of lyricism he was listen to.
After the JC vs Chilla battle he understood this is a whole different level of penmanship and said that if Lux is even better than them he’d want get walked into a Lux battle by watchin other battles first and get used to bars on a high level.
When he finished Aye Verb vs Holla I told him “Remember when I told you about Lux, his talk to em round is even worse”
He said he definitely doesn’t want to get exposed to Lux yet cause he’s afraid after that he’ll think the other pen nikkas will come across less special.
I get that, so I’mma hit him with some different styles before I get there.
He wanted to watch a bodybag with a good crowd so I’mma show him the Bigg K vs Half Past Seven battle as his 3rd battle.
And show him another style clash with B Magic vs Qleen as his 4th.
A one-rounder with Yung Ill vs T-Rex as his 5th battle

Yeah I tried to put my boy on. He just did not fukk with battle rap. I could not understand it. This guy is into lyrics. When I first showed him a battle, nygga was like “they aren’t rapping over a beat.” I’m like are you serious? There’s no comparison nygga.
However, I surprisingly have a coworker into it. I walked past his desk one day and he was watching Champion. We talk about battles. I never agree with the guy regarding his outcome of the battle.
LOL same shyt happened to me. Except he saw me watching Angryfan and we agree a lot.
Introducing people into battle rap an underrated battle to get people to watch is JJDD/Bill Collector and surprisingly most people I show that battle to like JJDD more than Bill Collector when they watch it. You would think Bill would appeal to new fans more but JJDD that battle seems to be their favorite, until they watch more of his battles then they lose interest in him.
