I look at it like this ultimately

ARP should've never dropped the trailer. Verb returned the money, you knew he didn't want to battle Iron before Lux (He told you), you know he's not gonna promote it (Same reason you cancelled the Daylyt battle, so not cancelling this one looks funny since one half said they're not promoting it). ARP should've held off and did the battle after Verb and Lux at NOME. Now he's without a potential classic down the line and might've lost Yung Ill vs. Ill Will all in the name of being "right"

Even if you made Verb live up to the contract, it's just gonna lead to a terrible battle on the card because Verb will be unmotivated and half ass his performance. Why waste a potential classic just to spite URL?

To encapsulate...

ARP is probably more "technically" right than Verb but also, it's gonna cost him more in the long run. It's not worth it to be "Right". Like arguing with your wife.

And yeah, APR putting out the trailer KNOWING that Verb didn't want to do the battle and sent the money back was the bad move on his part. Now there's a trailer out there for a battle that isn't gonna happen. I think that was ARP's biggest misstep here that might've cost him more than he thought. Should've tried to be a bit more diplomatic

Verb battling on RBE gave them exposure too. Kinda goes hand and hand.

I agree with you. I was talking overall, but public relations wise he handled it all wrong. Dropping that trailer was hoe shyt. He should of just handled it behind the scenes.

Or just be cool about it and now Verb OWES you a favor, maybe only takes half of the bag for iron and gives RBE priority over URL for the next battle after that.

ARP one of those nikkas that think paperwork is some kind of blood oath, no nikka u can win in court and lose in the long run

Smack coulda sued 90% of battlerap by now if he wanted to, he doesnt and because of that he can get alot of favors and save money while still. getting the content in the long run

ARP got some ego/napolean complex issues going on, no mentally secure person constantly tries to prove themselves or assert their "dominance" this much

Diz sayin exactly what I was getting at:sas2:

Like I was saying tho ARP might be right from a "legal" perspective but from a practical perspective, he's doing more harm to himself than good. Yes, Verb sending money back doesn't necessarily absolve him of the contract (though it might, we haven't seen the contract, it could have many stipulations), but even if it doesn't, dropping the trailer in a battle that you know one of the battlers isn't showing up for is shady business practice for one. For two, you're probably gonna lose the Yung Ill/Ill Will battle, and thirdly, you're costing yourself a future great battle (Verb/Solomon) just because you wanted to one up the URL.

Being "right" in this situation doesn't help him. Being smart does. The smart play, regardless of how annoying it is in the moment, was the accept the deposit back and rebook the battle for later in the year. Now he's out this battle and possibly another, he's gonna have to spend thousands in lawyer fees and even if he wins the case in court (which probably won't be for another year, if it isn't completely thrown out), it's not like Verb is gonna be out of anything. He can just make payment arrangements and it's not like Verb has a 9 to 5 they can take wages from. And none of this is gonna prevent another battler from backing out, it's just gonna make ARP look bad to other battlers and not wanna do business with him because he's gonna be known as the "league owner that works with the police and sues nikkas". He's doing way too much just because he's emotional and ego driven.

This "lawsuit" will never get a court date.

Mr. Duncan is a by-the-book independent contractor.

A first year law student could get this frivolous shyt thrown out.

https://www.labor.ny.gov/ui/dande/ic.shtm

Independent contractors are free from:
  • Supervision
  • Direction and
  • Control in the performance of their duties.
They are in business for themselves, offering their services to the general public.

Signs of independent contractor status include a person who:

  • Has an established business
  • Advertises in the electronic and/or print media
  • Buys an ad in the Yellow Pages
  • Uses business cards, stationery and billheads
  • Carries insurance
  • Keeps a place of business and invests in facilities, equipment, and supplies
  • Pays their own expenses
  • Assumes risk for profit or loss
  • Sets their own schedule
  • Sets or negotiates their own pay rate
  • Offers services to other businesses (competitive or non-competitive)
  • Is free to refuse work offers
  • May choose to hire help

Smarten up ARP.
