This is my recap and feelings of the Total Slaughter event. First thing i want to say is S/O to Eminem and the whole Shady staff for doing their best to bring battle rap to the next level. I say doing their best because i dont feel like the event was a complete success. However, i will commend them for actually having an event that started on time and they didnt have nikkas standing around for hours restless. It started at 8-8:30 and we was out the building by midnight. A couple factors play a part in the reason why i dont think it was a complete success. It just didnt have that Battle rap event feel to me. Something was missing that i cant quite put my finger on. But on the flipside, there was also a couple of things that i think change the game a little.
So lets get into this:
The Venue: I myself loved the venue. The set up was close to perfect. The decor was on point. The way the stage was built wit the "Total Slaughter" logo in the middle of the stage. The way the stage was in the middle of the floor and the crowd stood around it, gave it the gladiator feel. Cool points..
Introductions: The way that each MC was introduced was FIRE!! I liked how they had the video intro of each rapper in their element or hometown.
Toe to Toe: I liked the fact that there was no entourages on stage. I cant stand when there is a thousand nikkas on stage. We didnt have to worry about an entourage member throwing a battler off.
I also like the fact that the security was not hounding a nikka about smoking weed. Cuz lord knows i was lighting bomber after bomber. But thats just me. S/O to the nikka i almost killed letting him hit my blunt. He started choking, drooling and turning colors. Yo duke, i aint get ya name but i hope u aight. i should've warned u i smoke good. my bad.
Now although i see a lot of ppl saying this event was a flop, i believe it was a learning experience. This is the first time Shady Records ever attempted something like this and they can only improve from here. A lotta ppl copmplaining about the pay-per-view crashing. Well i dont think the website anticipated the amount of ppl that will be tuning in.
Now as far as the battles go, the winners i have are the same winners the judges went for. By the way, the fact the they judge these battles change the game a little. But i like that. Arsonal 3-0ed Big T. Best Ars i ever seen. He performed his ass off. T-Rex beat Daylyt 2-1 but Daylyt did some bullshyt. I was actually digging the Spawn outfit too, but that 3rd fiasco is for the birds. Mook got the body of the night. He killed Lux in my opinion. I come to realize that Lux is a prop using ass nikka. I should've known since SM2 when he came out wit the casket but damn... The black panther shyt against Hollow and now he brought some coat that i guess belong to Mook at one time. It didnt work tho. Hollow vs Joe Budden, I think Hollow won 2-1 but i also think Joe using that hand held mic fukked up his performance. Overall, the event was subpar and needs improvement but it was only the first one.
