One Of The Last Real Ones To Do It
I honestly think it would have been better that way, but the show wanted to give him redemption through suffering.
Everyone got a version of it Walt losing everything before dying, Jesse being held hostage and tortured by the Nazis, Jimmy essentially doing life in jail.
Meanwhile I think him taking that deal thematically matches who Jimmy/Saul was at that point. It would have been better if Kim had outsmarted him somehow.

Originally the script had him killing her, I kinda like that better but it would make no sense since Jimmy isn’t a killer, just a scammer. Hopefully they filmed this alternative choice for the blu ray.
