how was that cat the number one contender to the Can man??
he wasn't a contender they were both lightweight champs..it would have been a unification type deal

Mayweather Discusses Cotto Fight, Shreds Pacquiao, More - Boxing News
Mayweather:" I presented Pacquiao with the fight. Pacquiao is blowing a lot of smoke up everybody's ass. He doesn’t really want to fight. I tried to get him to step up to the plate. We're talking about a $10 million dollar fighter that I tried to give $40 million dollars*to, and we didn't even talk about the backend. Everything that everybody is hearing is a bunch of lies. I got proof. The proof is in the pudding. I got proof from all of my meetings with [Pacquiao’s adviser] Michael Koncz."
According to Floyd he offered 40 million without even discussing the back end which makes sense cuz if Cotto can get ppv why wouldn' t
Floyd and his camp was erry where during that time trying to set up the fight....why go thru all that trouble for show when the public demand for that fight died down considerably?? Arum didn't want the damn fight...Floyd wanted it....I believewanted it Arum did not N Arum goin do what he wanna do

Bob Costas - but the key he(koncz) says is that you offered him 40, but you take all the ppv and he thinks there might be 150 million bucks in ppv, so his side of the story is, "hey, either a 50/50 split" or he says he proposed 45/45 and the remaining 10 percent goes to the winner
Floydie - ummm... how my deal is structured at this paricular time in the sport of boxing is ummmm.. I KEEP 100 PERCENT OF THE REVENUE
The question came out of left field but the recording artist known as 50 Cent took it head on.
Did Floyd Mayweather duck Manny Pacquiao?
‘Yes,’ said the rapper who was Mayweather’s business partner during the brief period when a rock-solid proposal for boxing’s first and long-awaited $200million fight was firmly on the table.
Yes?
‘He did duck the fight. That was $100m right there for him and he just left it.’
The issue of which of the two best pound-for-pound fighters in the world at that moment refused to fight the other has vexed the rival legions of Mayweather and Pacquiao fans for years. And a lot of knowing fingers have been pointed at the PacMan’s promoter, Bob Arum.
But few insiders are better positioned to settle that argument than 50 Cent, who became involved with the PacMan after falling out with Mr Money but can now pass impartial judgement as an independent promoter in his own right.
So did Mayweather fear Pacquiao when both were at the height of their powers two years ago?
‘I wouldn’t say he’s afraid of Pacquiao or any fighter,’ says 50 Cent. ‘There were two reasons. He concentrates on how much someone else is getting paid as opposed to how much he’s making. Then he sees himself as being so high on top that he won’t give some of the other great fighters a chance to get up to that position.
‘It’s more a question of who it is necessary for him to fight. So its more about finding the perfect opponent than finding the toughest fighter to fight. When you’re looking to go into the history books you do it a bit differently. You fight the other great fighters.
‘But for Floyd it’s business. About making the right financial decisions. How do you stretch out how many wins on you record?’
Mayweather watchers have long sensed that he is obsessive about protecting his unbeaten record. Even casual observers know why this man calls himself Money, so it surprises virtually nobody that he has now found a way in which he might double his $100m share of a Pacquaio fight, albeit through a lot more bouts.

Here's my problem with Floyd Haters and people saying he ducked Pacquiao by offering him 40 million (when Pacquiao has never made that off a fight).
I think everyone can agree Floyd is the biggest draw in the sport. He is pound for pound the best until someone beats him, period. When Oscar Del La Hoya was the biggest draw, Floyd had to concede everything if he wanted to fight him. Oscar made 50 million off the fight, Floyd made 25. ODH wanted 10 ounce gloves for the fight. DLH had floyd fighting at 154, when he's not best there. Oscar literally had every advantage going into the fight, Ring size, money, location, weight/size, gloves, etc. Floyd conceded all of that and still won.........but now that Floyd is now the biggest pay per view draw, he's criticized for using leveraged he earned and no one wants to concede anything when they're challenging him. The shyt is flat out disrespectful and absurd. Like who the fukk is Canelo and what has he accomplished that he thinks can call Floyd out for a fight & turn around and say I'm not going to make 147 or even a catch weight of 150. SMH......It's crazy. Now the Floyd is scared of Canelo campaign starts.

2ndly, why is it wrong for the JMW Champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez to call out the other JMW Champion Floyd Mayweather? Why should Canelo have to come down in weight when Floyd is one of the 154 Champions?
Floyd said he doesnt do catchweights, and he like his opponents to come in at weights they are comfortable at. That's what he said about Oscar De La Hoya and Miguel Cotto. Why cant Canelo be comfortable?:why:
That's fine, but everyone knows Floyd is a 147 fighter. He hasn't looked good at 154. If you're calling him out, go to his weight.
