oh you were one of the ones thinking Oscar would win?
I dont even look at the weight drain as the issue or excuse. I never did. the things that I looked at were:
activity - Oscar was fighting an average of once a year, he fought 2 Pounds, and was getting touched in that. you have to stay active...and what I mean by that is, Oscar was never in shape unless he knew he had a fight coming up. the difference with Floyd and B-Hop is, they STAY in shape, not just during training camp.
speed - Oscar has fast hands, but his feet are slow and his head movement is non existent. Oscar not really a great boxer....thats a misconception. He is in the same class as Mosely...which is a step below FMJ. People tend to make the mistake of calling someone a great boxer because they have a great jab or can string together combinations.
workrate - Oscar didnt have a great workrate at that time, certainly not compared to Manny who was a tornado once he got going. with no head movement...Oscar was a sitting duck.
puncher's chance - Oscar didnt have much, because his KO punch was his left hook. too hard to set up against a fast guy like Manny with head movement and darting in and out. If Oscar had devastating one punch power with the straight right, that may have been a different story.
