Ishe Smith Injured, To Withdraw From Molina Fight - Boxing News
By Edward Chaykovsky

IBF junior middleweight champion Ishe Smith (25-5, 11KOs) revealed that he suffered an injury and plans to withdraw from his scheduled defense against Carlos Molina (21-5-2, 6KOs) on July 19th at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

The fight was scheduled to headline a Showtime televised tripleheader. No word if the entire card will be canceled or if the other two fights will move ahead. Mickey Bey was set to face John Molina and Badou Jack was being positioned go up against Farah Ennis.

"I suffered an injury today, a minor set back in my preparation to face-off against Molina. I want to make sure I am properly prepared and in the best form possible to fight him. Not only does he deserve to fight me at my best, but also my family, friends and training team deserve to have me fight at 100% It’s very hard to postpone after we have had such a great camp, but the sport of boxing and the fans deserve to watch Molina and I fight at our peak fitness levels, and I just can’t provide that with the untimely injury," Smith wrote.

"With that said I will be postponing our July 19th fight in order to heal from a cut on my eye. Stay tuned to my twitter account and I will post a picture of the injury in a few days. Thank you for all your support, today and always. God bless you all. So bummed, so hurt, wish I could turn back the hands of time but I can't. I love you guys, this breaks my heart but their was nothing else I could do."

Mike Tyson Becomes Promoter, Joins Rivalta and Jonas - Boxing News

By Jake Donovan

There couldn’t have been more pressure placed on Albert Bell to look good in his pro debut. Yet even with former heavyweight king Mike Tyson looking on at ringside, the 20-year old newcomer passed with flying colors, dominating fellow debutant Harold Torres before stopping in the 4th round of a preliminary bout Friday evening at the Kissimmee Civic Center in Kissimmee, Florida.

Tyson was at ringside to witness first-hand the progress of his very first client. The former baddest-man-on-the-planet has dipped his toes into several markets since stepping away from the ring for good in 2005, mainly acting – movies, TV and theatre.

He’s now prepared to lend his hand – and mental library of boxing history – to the next generation of fighters with the official launching of ‘Iron Mike Promotions.’

The Kissimmee Civic Center is the house that Tuto Zabala and All-Star Boxing built, but Tyson’s present was immediately felt. The newly launched promotional company made an immediate splash, with heavy sightings of Iron Mike Promotion t-shirts spotted throughout the fan-friendly venue.

While Tyson is the obvious face of his self-named promotional outfit, he enters the promotional fray with partners in tow – and with that, plenty more talent to handle.

Acquinity Sports plays an active role in the company. Its CEO, Gary Jonas is a 50% partner with Tyson, while Henry Rivalta – Vice President for Acquinity Sports whose tireless efforts have made him the face of the company – receives an expanded role as President of Boxing Operations for the newly formed company.

“The sky’s the limit for this kid,” Rivalta said of Bell. “He looked spectacular (on Friday). He didn’t get touched once in the entire fight.”

Bell is honored to become the newly formed company’s first client; even more so considering it wasn’t as simple as submitting his resume and accepting the job.

“My first fighter is Albert Bell,” Tyson explained from ringside in Kissimmee after watching his client offer a flawless performance in his pro debut. “We went through an elimination process of fighters in my gym. He passed the test and is part of (Iron Mike) Promotions.”

The comment was made tongue-in-cheek, perhaps to emphasize the fighter’s natural toughness. The truth is that Bell is one of the 18 Acquinity-rostered fighters who will have Tyson in their corner.

It’s great news for rising stars such as Juan Carlos Payano, who enjoyed a breakout performance just a couple of weeks ago. An off-the-canvas knockout win of Jundy Maraon on ESPN2 positioned the unbeaten bantamweight into title contention, where he joins promotional stable mate and rising featherweight Claudio Marrero, whose next fight will be a title shot.

Behind the scenes, the trio of Jonas, Rivalta and Tyson makes for a rock solid team that could eventually have a major impact on the sport.

Jonas has shown his commitment to the sport, investing on what appears to be short-term risks with the vision of it growing into long-term success. Rivalta has worked non-stop in recruiting fresh, young talent to Acquinity and has already done the same for Tyson’s company in scooping up Bell, a highly successful amateur who came within a win of making the 2012 U.S. Olympic male boxing squad.

Then of course there is Tyson. The Hall-of-Fame ex-heavyweight champion brings worldwide popularity and the unique combined viewpoint of fighter and boxing historian, giving him the capability to personally mold and mentor Bell, though the Ohio native has already shown to be wise beyond his 20 years of age.

He may have passed his stiffest test the moment Tyson gave him the seal of approval. Now the rest is up to the rookie promoter to move its product and grow from the ground up. On the 16th anniversary of the infamous “Bite Fight” rematch with Evander Holyfield, Iron Mike Promotions received a hell of a jump start with Bell’s performance.

“(Iron Mike Promotions) “The Takeover” has started,” Tyson insists.

:krs: :blessed: :salute:

I dont think you are looking at it from if you were in Floyd's shoes.

IF I SUSPECT SOMEONE OF CHEATING.....THEN YES, I WILL DO WHATEVER I CAN TO STACK ADVANTAGES.

Manny never failed a regular test...but we know how nikkas skirt them shyts now. Remember when growing up and you were playin ball or playing cards and shyt...I mean on a friendly but competitive level. Remember when it was shady cats always tryin to cheat or stack advantages so you had to call someone in just to keep an eye on shyt or to verify nikkas be on that slick shyt?

Nobody likes to be cheated. Now think about if you are the best fighter in the world...undefeated...making tons of money...and in good health....
man its dudes out here stripping padding out of gloves, loading handwraps, juicing, etc...

If theres a doubt, I dont give a damn how unconventional it is. I am willing to do the same thing.

I dont get why Floyd didnt want the fight. Would Pac KO him like he *was supposed to do* Bradley??? Or he was gonna somehow find a way to beat the man that beat a guy that he struggled with 4 times?

HBO and Sho got together for Lewis-Tyson. It was such a huge money fight, even though Mike was past his prime. That didnt stop the 2 networks for getting together. Even had Buffer and Lennon! The point is, when you have events of such magnitude...things are going to get unconventional. They have to be, because there is too much at stake.

Its going to hurt Manny's legacy much more than Floyd because people will always remember how he initially balked at testing that Floyd was more than happy to submit himself to.

He didn't suspect Manny of cheating. He just didn't want to fight a southpaw who had power, was just as fast with hands and feet, who could potentially beat him. Thats it. Nothing more, nothing less.
If Floyd was so concerned about people in boxing cheating, why didn't he test Marquez? Marquez, was a career featherweight. Went up to lightweight, and stopped 2 career lightweights that had never been stopped before. Joel Casamayor, and Juan Diaz. The odd thing is, Marquez was 35 years old. How does a career featherweight, who is in his mid 30s, not particularly known for his knockout power, move up and stop two bigger guys who had never been stopped before? That is not suspicious, but Manny, who is known for knocking out guys is? :beli:
Sorry, but it doesn't add up. What does add up though is this. Manny stopped Hatton and DLH faster than Floyd did with movement and speed. He stopped Cotto the same way. The same Cotto who Floyd refused to fight. It was immediately after that fight when all these PED mess started. So really, you're going to tell me, that Floyd Mayweather Jr., who has been boxing since he had a titty in his mouth, the guy who rambled on about Manny "doing things that have never been done before", (Floyd loved to tell about his five divisional titles in 5 classes in less than a decade, which has never been done before), was nearly 40 fights into his career when he suddenly became interested in "cleaning up the sport"? FOH. Dude doesn't even have his own fighters tested, and two have come up filthy. This isn't about suspecting someone of cheating, this is simply a case of "that guy is pretty good, he might be able to beat me". As it is, Floyd was at various Pacquiao fights betting money on him to win. If anyone can be suspected of using PEDs for their career, it would be Floyd.

:childplease:

No, you stop it. Here are the facts:

1. Mayweather initially asked for 10 oz (154lbs and up) gloves. Pacquiao naturally said no. They agreed to normal 8 oz gloves (147lbs and below).

2. Mayweather initially asked the fight be contested at 154 lbs. Pacquiao naturally said no. They agreed to 147lbs.

3. Mayweather asked for a big ring, Pacquiao a normal sized ring. They agreed on the big ring.

4. Pacquiao asked for the 10 mil penalty for each pound overweight. They agreed to that. But remember- only reason Pacquaio asked for that stipulation was cuz Mayweather had AGREED to a catchweight with Marquez for their fight and then day of weigh in came overweight with check IN HAND. Naturally Pacquiao wanted to protect himself.

5. Pac wanted 50/50 split, Mayweather had always agreed to that until the last round of their negotiations, where he wanted to give Pacquaio a laughable flat $40 million with no PPV $? Mind you the PPV earnings ALONE were projected to be $100 million :wtf:

6. Both fighters went back and forth on the drug testing, with the first round them being off on 4 days, and the final 2 rounds Pacquiao AGREEING to full drug testing. If you dont believe that part, google it.

And Pac's not fighting in the US simply cuz the tax rate increased to almost 40%!!! How much is it in Macau? 12%. Its a no brainer and honestly if Mayweather were smart HE'D fight in Macau too since the taxes are dramatically cheaper, the casino district their generates TEN TIMES more $ than Vegas does! (google it if you dont believe me). :whew:
Its funny how Floyd stans love to say how Manny missed out on 40 mil, but won't acknowledge that Floyd missed out on potentially 75 mil. Why is one guy missing out on the biggest purse ever, but the other one isn't? In their world, Floyd somehow still magically gets the money from a Manny fight without ever fighting it.

Floyd fight in China :russ: tf is you smoking breh :lupe:
:what:
You know whats not random testing? Testing 2 months out of the year. Knowing the 2 months in which you are to be tested.
