The MRI machine is an all-timer for the series. Plus, I think it's got the two best comedic timing kills of the series too (the piano and the trash compactor).

Until Dawn was decent with the kills, at least from what I remember since I was going through cat naps.

I’ll watch it again in the future. Never played the game.

This was actuall funny how the nondescript characters joked about the FUKKERY happening to them like giving a nod to us audience without breaking the fourth wall, and P. Stormare always chew up the scenery

I'd argue the Friday the 13th vibe is a fakeout. There's a whole crew of Jasons, a conspiracy, and a sci-fi twist that actually feels fairly earned. My movie comparison would give away the best twist for people who might check it out, so I'll throw it in spoilers.

It starts off like it's a camp slasher but the twist is you're really getting the Stepford Wives but about the kids.

That definitely doesn't interest me

She told me after the fact and I said "you should have said something!" cause I was thrown for a minute and about to get pissed. Lol.

Anyway, it's very well made, glad to have Boyle back in the chair. The worldbuilding is pretty interesting. This was intense, heartbreaking and disgusting in parts but I think we back. Pretty good.

I'm down a new Kiyoshi Kurosawa rabbit hole. Here's the short version of this interesting trio of connected movies:
Fresh off dropping Cure (imo, the best Kurosawa movie), Kiyoshi Kurosawa got an offer to make two movies on a low budget. So he grabs Hiyoshi Takahashi, the screenwriter of Ringu, and they come up with a shared premise. Basically, "a father seeks revenge for the murder of his daughter" and the two writers each write their own script.

They used the same teams and shot both films in a month. Takashi's script became Serpent's Path; Kurosawa's script became Eyes of the Spider. Kurosawa directs both, and they were made smack in the middle of his run that started with Cure and culminated with Pulse. Now, Serpent's Path gets a lot of love as a cult classic so much so that Kurosawa remade it in France last year.

So, these are on my "watch ASAP" list now.

Saw Martyrs for the first time yesterday. I had avoided it for years , but then realized I’ve seen some fukked up movies that didn’t really affect me, so I gave it a shot. I loved it
