I see a lot of people picking Bring Her Back over their first one, Talk to Me. But I think if you liked one, you'll like the other. I'd say Bring Her Back is "scarier" but Talk to Me has a great ending.

It looks like both movies take place in the same connected universe, but that's not from the movies themselves. The directors made a website that looks like a black market for occult items. The tapes from Bring Her Back are on the site, and it also shows the hand from Talk to Me.

I preferred 'Talk to Me' overall but 'Bring Her Back' was definitely scarier to me. There were some real :picard: parts to it..

I'm late to it but i finally watched Sinners, I enjoyed it, it was entertaining, not a LOT of action but it was good still.

I dig Jack O'connel as an actor, he was good as the lead Vamp,

Was a long film at 2 hours 17 but it didn't feel like it, It went fairly quickly, just wish there was a bit more action.

I kinda saw the end coming a mile of though.

What did you lot think of it?

Trash. Will have a long way to go before profitability. Not sure who this Coogler fella thinks he is.

How’d my Variety impression go?

It's one of the few movies that I actively encouraged people to go see in theaters, and specifically to see it in the best audio theater they could get. Idk that I'd list it on my favorite "horror movies" of the year, since the scares took a backseat to the drama, action, and music. But it's on my favorite movies overall, and probably right at the top.

West where the Sunsets
Recently bought about a dozen horror DVDs at a thrift store. Mostly stuff I never heard of. Seen these so far:

Stepford Wives - solid old school film. Could have cut off about 15 minutes. I remember hearing about the comedy remake back in the days, but never knew there was an older one.

Mandy - this shyt was night and day. First half felt like some artsy fartsy, boring bullshyt, then after the midpoint it turned into some comedy horror. :dahell: second half picked up, but in the hands of a better writer/director it could have been better. Also could have cut off about 20-25 minutes.

Ghosts of Mars - lots of violence, but was a basic copy and paste style of film. Finding out Ice Cube was in a JC movie had me :dwillhuh: that was surprising.

Salma Hayek is not #1

Notable omissions

Ppl will disagree but something needs to be said about 10 year old Chloe Moritz in "Let Me In." The damage she did in that movie.

Geena Davis in Transylvania 6-5000. Six two with Double Ds, how you forget that. She played a seductress twice in her career and was turned Into a throwaway in Blink Twice.

If they included TV, Phobe Tonkin from TVD/originals and the Katherine character.

No one from Buffy/Angel, Harmony is meant to be a joke, she's as if Kristy Swanson turned into a vampire.

I'm honestly 50/50 on the concept.

We've seen enough Youtube shorts get expanded into full-length horror. Lights Out is a good example...Skinamarink too, but that sucked. Regardless, I think it'd be a cool and novel idea to use Youtube short horror to experiment before committing to a movie direction.

But that's the practical version. Seeing a "Jason universe" rollout coupled with consumer-brand-funded vignettes and merch has all the energy of companies chasing profit over quality. That's especially true after hearing budget issues helped kill the Fuller version of Crystal Lake.
