@RGM
I think it was @storyteller who said it looks like they’re trying to connect it to Jason Goes to Hell? If so, it could have been done better.

what really pissed me off was the girl finding the machete. fukkin stupid. I’m supposed to believe Jason didn’t see it there? :stopitslime:
I am just happy to get some live Action F13 before the century runs out :russ:
If i have to complain, at least i get to complain about new material.

Now lets work on an actual movie and get Freddy back in rotation with new material.

I guess I'm out of the loop on that. Who currently has the 'F13' film rights? Did they sort all of this out?
The rights to the Friday the 13th franchise are split between Victor Miller (writer of the original screenplay) and Sean S. Cunningham (director/producer). Miller owns the US rights to the original screenplay, including characters like Pamela Voorhees and the name Jason Voorhees, but not the sequels or the iconic hockey mask look. Cunningham retains the rights to the sequels and the adult Jason character, including the hockey mask. This split ownership has created legal hurdles for developing new films and other content based on the franchise.

@Saysumthinfunnymike

Victor Miller:
Won the rights to the original Friday the 13th screenplay in the US, including the characters and settings from the first movie. He can create new content based on this material, such as a TV series set at Camp Crystal Lake.

Sean Cunningham:
Retains rights to the sequels and the adult, hockey mask-wearing Jason Voorhees. He also owns the foreign rights to the first film.

Legal complications:
The split ownership has made it difficult to develop new movies or other content, as both Miller and Cunningham need to be involved or negotiate deals.

Trademark:
New Line Cinema (Warner Brothers discovery nicca!) owns the trademark for names like "Friday the 13th," "Jason Voorhees," and "Crystal

Ok so it's up to New Line Cinema to get the two parties in a room and work out a deal. We need this. :birdman:

:dead: I get it that people didn't like The Monkey but its one of my favorite horror movies of the year. I like horror comedies alot:manny:

The Monkey seems a bit closer to something from Sam Raimi like Drag Me to Hell, or maybe Evil Dead II. The characters play it straight in those movies, but the supernatural forces are so absurd with their intentions and the way they handle business. I enjoyed the movie more than Longlegs that's just me:yeshrug:

Another favorite of mine from this year is The Gorge. That really feels like an 80s John Carpenter or James Cameron film(I mean Sigourney Weaver is in it:russ:). Switch out Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller for Jamie Lee Curtis or Sigourney Weaver and Kurt Russell or Lance Henriksen and replace the cgi monsters with practical effects from Rob Bottin and you'd have another cult classic:banderas: More true to John Carpenter's movies I don't think it make that much money since it was on Apple+:mjcry: I am looking forward to Black Phone 2 and I think it'll be a hit if its good.

Not this year but somewhere on thecoli people were bringing up When Evil Lurks again. That movie reminds me of The Beyond where crazy shyt happens after the other. I'd say When Evil Lurks has a much better story, but both movies achieved scenes that are shocking to the viewer and stick with them.

Which reminds me....
