Alright, I'm gonna need you to hear me out...

This is some budget horror from 2009. A lot of it comes across as campy. The acting is...not great, but it has some familiar faces. The plot is scotch tape, bubble gum, and Elmer's glued together. But a bunch of the kills are genuinely good! We're talking over-the-top violence with very well-made practical effects. The quality was so good, I looked up the director. His directing credits top out at a Teen Wolf episode, but his makeup and effects credits are sprawling with some bangers in there.

So, this is effectively a showcase for some really good kill effects in the form of a slasher. In an alternate universe, this movie's Terrifier a decade earlier. It even had to be edited down to cut some of the gratuitous violence in certain countries.

Laid to Rest as a movie...hella mid, mostly forgettable. But the kills are so good that I think it's noteworthy and maybe even worth a watch for horror heads...especially since it's a "never-mentioned" horror.

Also, Lena Headley's in this. It's cathartic to see Cersei suffer through a horror movie.

A Splatterday Classic, and that Sexy bytches:dj2: jam get stuck in your head:jawalrus::banderas:

Cross posting. I didn't see some of ya'll in the thread on these. Just realized I never gave my thoughts on 'Terrifier 3' on these boards. Spoilers ahead. There was a lot I liked but I have to get the bad out of the way first. I felt the first 20 minutes or so the way it was edited was jarring. Opening Christmas sequence into flashback and back into present day and none of the scenes really hit for me. I thought we were in trouble. I did laugh like hell when Chris Jericho got his face ripped apart Lmao.

The movie really picks up once Sienna makes her first appearance. I didn't note this before but she's sexy as hell to me and through her emotional scenes and physicality when she's fighting Art she's legit carrying these movies at times. She's a great talent.

The Christmas element added a cool dynamic to this one as well. The backdrop offered a wild contrast to the violent nature of what's happening on screen. The bar scene, mall scene and shower scenes were all the type of shyt I love about what Leone is doing with this franchise. The tension/comedy/gore is all there, he killed it on the practical effects again.

I'm not sure about the final act. It was good but it felt like a rehash of the second film. I can see where we're headed but I did not love the choice of killing Jonathan off screen. It works for a reveal but the character is too important for the actual lore and mystery behind Art. I feel 'Terrifier 2' is easily the best of the series to this point. I guess we will see how this plays out. My boxset from Umbrella is dope as fukk. Got the whole set in 4K with a booklet and it's numbered. :whew:

Watched this pretty generic, fairly mid found footage joint on Tubi, Mirror

It hits a lot of tropes. They got a cursed mirror, one character has a history of sleepwalking, as things escalate there's the guy who wants to keep going for profit while others start to ask questions and want to stop. I couldn't tell if it was rehashing concepts too much or if I'm just too used to the plot beats already, but it all felt pretty slow.

But to this film's credit, it really amps up the energy for the final act. There's some cool make-up and effects for some of the final bits.

But I didn't think there was enough quality versus monotony as the story unfolded. The plot felt too basic for the runtime and scare-quality. So, this is low on my recommendations list, though found footage fans that just want something they haven't seen before could do worse.

It's almost time for the yearly "let's make an October horror watchlist" compilation.
year is flying by because of work,

but I am going to attempt to join in on this.

Before i forget - My suggestions for this year- 2 classics and 2 straight up fukkery_

the Stepfather (1987) (Tubi, Xumo, Plex, Philo)
Undead (2003) (plex, Tubi)
Dead Sushi (2012) (plex, tubi)

and dammit!

Videodrome (1983)- this may have to be one of my free picks - I can't find it for free anywhere online but my "site" has it,

I think it looks solid from the trailer but I'm more looking forward to 'Him' as far as new releases go

The Black Phone 2 is the movie I'm looking forward to the most. Him should be good and I'm hoping Marlong gets future looks for dramatic roles.

I don't have faith in the last Conjuring movie. The guy that did the last one is doing this one again.
