It's been a minute. Rice Paper is the easiest one. Hai Duong and Hung Viet were good too. The mango dessert shop is gone though.

As far as businesses go, I read that it's 120 businesses in that little shopping center. Why the diaspora in DC doesn't have something like that is something that can probably get a grant out of the DC government to study the problem, LOL
There’s so much commercial space in PG for this

I might look into

I walk from SE to PG on the daily, and there's so much unused commercial property.

That said, I don't know what businesses would really "work" in these areas.

Obviously they could use more good food options - cajun/creole, caribbean, soul food, BBQ..etc - but what else?
  • Barbershops, Beauty Salons, Nail Salons,
  • Beer and Wine, Tobacco, Vape, Hookah
  • Convenience
  • Dry cleaning, regular laundry,
  • Check cashing, IRS office
  • Dentist? Dialysis? Urgent Care, Pharmacy?
  • sneaker stores and clothing spots
When I floss through the bad part of SE (eastern market, capitol hill), they have stuff like
  • Art/Picture Frame stores
  • Multiple Pet focused business - vets, doggy day care, pet supplies,
  • Florists
  • Book Stores, Game Stores
I was just on Georgia Ave today - it's probably the most diaspora friendly strip in DC. Af Am, Ethiopian, Trini, Jamaican...wouldn't be surprised if there was some West and East African presence as well.

My stomping grounds

Georgia Ave from Howard to DT Silver Spring has bare black owned businesses :ehh:

Check out Seta Oasis that recently opened up

Good Stuff Eatery over by the Capitol, lol

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Service Experience at Capitol Hill Location

Dear Good Stuff Eatery Management,

I am a frequent customer at your Capitol Hill location, but I recently had a deeply upsetting experience that I feel compelled to bring to your attention.

During my last visit, I ordered a burger and was surprised at how quickly it was prepared--almost immediately after placing the order. While I normally appreciate efficient service, the speed in this case made me question whether the food was freshly prepared, as your brand promises. When I respectfully requested that my burger--and my partner's--be remade, the employee named Alex responded by issuing a refund in a manner that felt dismissive and disrespectful. He simply placed the money down and walked away without a word.

This interaction left both my partner and me feeling humiliated in front of other customers and staff.
We were treated as though our request for properly prepared food was unreasonable. I left the restaurant feeling hurt, disrespected, and unwelcome--experiences no customer should endure.

I am seriously considering pursuing legal action due to the way we were treated, which I believe constitutes both negligence and possible discrimination.

I hope you take this complaint seriously and look into both the food preparation practices and the conduct of your staff. I would appreciate a formal response regarding how this situation will be addressed.

Sincerely,

PG is off the beaten path tho, honestly it’s one of those suburban graveyards. Compared to Mo County which has DT SS, Bethesda, and Rockville which are all bigger and/or more dynamic than any urban center PG has to offer.

I don’t think they were ambition enough with National Harbor that shyt shoulda been another downtown Silver Spring. I guess property value tings for the home owners around there as a factor. Still, I think because of that it takes a lot to draw foot traffic in PG unless it’s a place with a lot of disposable income like Bowie or Fort Washington.

lol facts

But in all seriousness, National Harbor was a missed opportunity imo. Everything from there to Fort Washington should be sustainably developed for people that fukk with natural landscapes but want to also have a little urbanity. You could make an artist community, a great natural trail from the harbor to Fort Washington Park.

It could actually be lit but I doubt it’d ever happen cuz the big money families in Fort Washington wouldn’t want all that.
