you don't necessarily need to speak French to work in a lot of places in Montreal especially West Island.

I lived on the South Shore for 3 years and never had an issue with speaking English. Its not just West Island where you can get away with English, its pretty much growing so you'll be straight, and the housing is sooo much cheaper.

Aight thanks for the info. Will look into getting a job up there. I'm not gonna dismiss learning (proper) French. But the notion that it is absolutely mandatory to learn it to function in Montreal does not correlate with my experiences.

Housing market is way cheaper in Montreal but good luck finding work if you dont speak French :mjpls:

Depends on where you live. I live and work in Pointe-Claire which is in the West Island, it's English as hell over here. We rarely speak French in the office. Sometimes I forget I live in Quebec. :manny: The West Island can be pretty pricy though. I lucked out though, my uncle lets me rent his condo at a very low price since he's already paid if off.

But once you go east of Saint-Laurent blvd, your French had better be on point if you wanna survive. And certain areas like Montreal Est, Pointe-Aux-Trembles, and off Island suburbs like Terrebonne and Repentigny are :mjpls: towards Blacks and English speakers

Most people in Montreal speak both English and French fluently. It's not uncommon to see two people chilling together, one speaking English and the other speaking French and they understand each other perfectly.

Did you live in Greenfield Park?

I grew up in Brossard and it was a nice mix of cultures over there. Longueuil and Boucherville felt like a different world because of how French it was.

Aurora has always been expensive, just a tad below the king city housing prices

Newmarket used to be cheap but it's not anymore. East gwimburry and Keswick are cheap but there :mjpls:, and are in the middle of nowhere.

Barrie is still somewhat cheap but that Travel to and from work.

I have a friend who got forced out into Burlington because of how expensive Toronto is. Every morning he gotta take a long ass ride on the Go public transport to get to the BMO headquarters for 9 AM.

Living anywhere off the Island is :scust:

:mjpls: Francos make other white folks in Canada look amazing.
Quebec has the most 95percent plus white cities and towns

The Saguenay region :scust:

You'll :eat:well off the French pawgs in those places. But the middle aged and old folks can be racist as hell, and they are alot more open with their views than English Canadians.

I was in Brossard.

I lived in one of the Condos just off Chevrier. my neighbours were from every background, white, black, asian, indian, everything. It was cool, I never had a problem in Brossard.

never really went it to Longeuiel(outside of taking the metro to Osheaga lol). Only reason I ever went to Boucherville was for the Ikea.

But I found when I went south some more, to like St-Jean and shyt that was a lot more french, and more anti-anglo.

how?

Quebec has cheaper car insurance, cheaper rent, cheaper transit. Cheaper daycare.
higher taxes, higher food prices, higher gas prices, etc.

car insurance isn't much cheaper either when you factor in all total costs you have to pay.
