You just got it though. Return it to the store. You payed like $600, right? No sense in keeping a defective chip. Get your money's worth. I highly recommend exchanging it.

nah, i brought it directly from intel for $200 :smugdraper:

i fixed it. turns out that my mobo doesn't support the 3000 mhz ram overclock i was running (at least not without a bios update) so it was making my clockspeed wildly unstable and generally not playing nice with my cpu. task mngr, hwmonitor and the bios are all reporting a stable max frequency of 3799mhz (+ turbo) on all six cores :whew:

gonna just run @2133mhz until i get the chance to update my bios. kinda weird that this was necessary considering that this board was just released a few months ago but whatever... the latest version should improve xmp compatibility.

@Ciggavelli @daze23 is this software any good or is it just for show Razer Cortex? It suspends and ends processes for you while gaming

Razer Cortex - PC Performance Booster & Price Comparison Game Launcher
I use to use this. It may be placebo effect, but it did feel like it helped made games run a little smoother. What i do now is install it, manually disable every service it list myself, then uninstall it. That way, i have the processes it ends not running anymore while i game. As wall as the program itself. Which may not take up much memory, but needs to run in the background to work.

I was playing Deus Ex and my razer keyboard and mouse interacted with the game :gladbron:

It's pretty cool to see my mouse and keyboard lighting up and flashing during loading and shyt and lighting up the keys used in the game. Razor Aura is pretty cool when games support it. I've never seen it in any other game, but it's pretty cool in Deus Ex. Too bad I can't get into the game :mjcry:

I'm gonna buy a mechanical keyboard for work. I can't use "normal" keyboards anymore. Has anybody tried the "silent" mechanical keyboards?

I'm about to drop $150 on one (then write it off :pachaha:)

Didn't know there was a PC thread on here :ehh:

I jumped back on PCs on Black Friday after not fukkin with them for damn near a decade. I built my own for about $950 total, that bytch fast tho :whew:

Z170p
800W EVGA
16 GB DD4
i5 6500
Gigabyte NVidia 1060GTX 6GB
256 GB SSD
2 TB 7200rpm HDD
Blu-Ray drive

$950 seems great for what I got, that 1060 6GB is a beast. Great for 4K editing and gaming

I imagine they're linear switches (like Cherry MX reds and blacks) with some kind of sound dampeners. probably a better solution than the o-rings a lot of people use

I'm gonna make a purchase tonight after I do some research.

I work from home half the time. Maybe I can write off my computer as well :jbhmm:

(Nah, I'll get audited for buying Titan X Ps, a 5K monitor, and a 6850k. Way overkill for work...lol. I'm gonna write off my Surfacebook Pro though. I can justify that. $1800 :whew:)
