You just got it though. Return it to the store. You payed like $600, right? No sense in keeping a defective chip. Get your money's worth. I highly recommend exchanging it.
nah, i brought it directly from intel for $200

i fixed it. turns out that my mobo doesn't support the 3000 mhz ram overclock i was running (at least not without a bios update) so it was making my clockspeed wildly unstable and generally not playing nice with my cpu. task mngr, hwmonitor and the bios are all reporting a stable max frequency of 3799mhz (+ turbo) on all six cores

gonna just run @2133mhz until i get the chance to update my bios. kinda weird that this was necessary considering that this board was just released a few months ago but whatever... the latest version should improve xmp compatibility.
