it's some crazy UE4 VR demo I guess. it's easy to push the limits to show off tech. I wouldn't consider it to be representative of what's needed for VR

did you ever try running the UE4 Elemental demo? shyt brought my FPS down to the teens. but Unreal Tournament (also UE4) runs at ~120 fps on my sysetm
nah, i never tried it. I'll check it out

a SSD will make everything much more responsive. it's pretty much the cheapest upgrade that will give you the most noticeable improvements

Does best buy sell them? I'm getting the inspiron from there...

even if it doesnt have HDMI out you can just get a DVI to HDMI adapter for $5 on ebay

audio might be a problem depending on the tv

thats why I wanted the hdmi out feature standard...

yeah, I see now it's pretty small. get a full sized desktop if you want it to be easy to upgrade

not sure what they mean by it being "slow". but that's why I recommend a SSD. clean install Windows on the SSD, and get rid of whatever bloat-ware it comes with, and it should be speedy regardless of the hardware (at least for the non-gaming stuff you're trying to do)

Thats why I have been reconsidering buying it... I just didn't want to drop a grand for the desktop I really want..

HP Envy Phoenix

I would build my own

I would definitely not buy that thing. from what I could find it's $1000, and has a geforce GT 640 :flabbynsick: . it has an i7 and a bunch of ram (16gb), but you don't need all that for what you want to do

on a side note, that thing^^^ shows that the Steam Machines aren't such a bad value in the pre-built market

Will it be $1k like the Titan or will it be $3k like the Titan-Z. :lupe:

I guess we'll know more in a few weeks, but if it's $1k, my waiting finally may be over.

Edit: rumored $1349 :patrice:

http://m.hexus.net/tech/news/graphics/79710-alleged-nvidia-gtx-titan-x-pricing-surfaces/

If it's more powerful than 2 980s, it might be worth it, if not, the wait continues...:mjcry:

Might want to at least wait until their is some concrete evidence on DX12 because all the talk is that it will allow you to stack VRAM instead of alternate it...so two 4 GB cards will actually be 8 GB of VRAM instead of 4 GB mirrored like it is now...

Problem is some are saying DX12 will automatically work like this and some are saying that game developers will have to specifically develop the game to use the stacking technology...

HELL no. GT 640? You have any idea how old that thing is?

A sista got all her finances in order and a FAT tax refund...goodbye, 650 Ti, hello, 960!

But it has everything else to make up for the 640 right?

Breh, that build is pure garbage for the price. You can cop an i7 for about $200. 16 GB means jack shyt - you can get by on 8 easily - and the graphics card was a disgrace back in 2012. Don't even look at that thing again.
