A couple of things, only the first one is a strong recommendation. The others are pretty much just asking for your opinions. I am not sure what you primarily want to use your system for, but assuming gaming because you mentioned your GPU. I built a rig with that PSU before and it is solid

1 - Don't buy Windows 10

Get at @2gunsup

2 - I notice that your board has a M.2 slot. Would you pay extra for the speed? It is a little pricey, but if you can get by with a ~250GB M.2 Drive and a cheap mechanical drive for extra storage I would recommend that. A nice M.2 drive would smoke any SATA III SSD.

3 - Try to get a single 16GB Stick. Contrary to popular belief dual sticks don't make much of a difference in applications.

4 - Where is your DVD drive :comeon:

1. Thanks, I'll get at him

2. I didn't even look into that, but I'll check the prices

3. Will do

4. I have an external DVD drive, so it seemed pretty pointless to get one.

I'm using this strictly for gaming since I already have an HTPC and a laptop.

Don't get a m.2 drive if all you're doing is gaming. Sure, it has faster read and writes, but you won't notice shyt unless your bench marking or transferring large files. Just get a ssd. And I hate to say it, but I'd definitely go I7. Developers from here on out are going to be utilizing more cores.

I agree with getting the i7

Seems like you just need a new monitor and GPU. If you want to upgrade your system memory, do that too.

The problem is, a 6700K is more expensive than a 5820K. And since ddr4 is really cheap, @CTech83 I'd honestly make the jump to X99.
6 cores, but lower clock speeds :jbhmm:

The other i7 starts out at 4.0ghz, right?

The 5820k is only 3.3ghz. Can you safely overclock it past 4.0ghz without liquid cooling?

4.0 yeah, maybe even 4.3 depending how well it can without needing too much voltage. Definitely need a better cooler than the evo 212. And X99 motherboards are still pricey as well. But a 5820K clocked at 4.0 is still faster than a 6700K at 4.5

I doubt i'm gonna bother overclocking. I'm just looking for something that will run smooth for a few years at max settings @ 1080P
