the NFL didnt have a salary cap till 94 and I dont know anyone whod say oh imagine those Niner/Cowboy/Giants teams whod have to respect the salary cap would never be great

yall mad at second apron being strict on soft cap, imagine how mad yall be if this was NFL style hard salary cap instead of soft cap :pachaha:

the whole point of second apron is that the soft cap has actually failed. people thought team owners would act in their self-interest and try everything to not pay the luxury tax outta pocket, but - surprise - some owners said fukk it

This is the deepest the league has ever been. If Tatum/Hali/Dame weren’t injured, even the East would be 7-8 teams deep. You can’t be running around with a bum GM though. Owners need to find and hire smart FOs in this league.

I like it overall. It does suck having to trade players that teams drafted though to stay under the 2nd apron. I can understand that

Damn, well I guess it's really important for draft picks to produce right away on them cheap rookie deals. Days of the dynasty are damn near over
Pretty much, but even then if you hit on multiple draft picks, you can't keep everybody.

I'm intrigued what OKC gonna do with SGA, Jalen, and Chet cause that's possibly 3 super max contracts right there.

They do have a bunch of picks so they could probably let players go and get rookies for the cheap.

That’s all this stuff is
How so?

NBA already has a hard salary floor. The difference is in owners who want/can afford to spend over the cap and those who don't. They are making it so everyone has to fit inside the cap.

Whats the point of a cap if you can just buy off the penalties and go over it? If this was football, how many teams do you think would want to use extra cap space by simply paying? My guess is the number would be in teens.

A team like OKC who drafted smartly, made the right trades to win a title with a young core can’t be long term because of the second apron. Now a bad org who do none of those things can offer a lot of money to break that group up.

I have always had that issue with the NFL cap as well.

If you draft well, you should not be penalized. If you make smart moves like Boston, you shouldn't be penalized that harshly.

You should be penalized for building your team thru free agency and signing stars from elsewhere.
