I was giving a take why college is less popular. Not telling people not to go.
People just don't have the means like they did in decades past.
And no knowledge isn't as valuable as money. Especially if it doesn't have a useful modern way to implement it to make $. Some knowledge is more valuable than others.

The problem starts in high school. Most people go to college not knowing what they want to do. And then they pick majors because they’re easy. The biggest misconception about college is that it teaches you to everything when it fact you should already have discipline and a competitive spirit before you go.

Plenty of college grads been living at home with their parents since the world financial crisis.

I was out the door at 18. My brother and sister are barely getting their lives started at ~30. Both have STEM degrees and full time jobs (sadly not CS, or maybe gladly with the current state of LLMs).

The economy is seriously broken and has been for sometime, for Black people especially.

The whites are in denial, both sides. They might see the problem but they don't get the urgency. And for the liberal/progressive whites, they are too fecklessb to save themselves even when they get how dire the situation is.

I can say that and I went to college and graduated from a “good” school
People going to college ain’t debating people everyday nor are most people taking full advantage of course curriculum
Most people are literally going and just retaining information to get a piece of paper to feel like they did something in life
The internet has been the great equalizer in all of this
If you truly want to learn, you can do it on your own
There are several good paying jobs that if you have the gumption and determination
You can study on your own, take a test and start a career
The only thing a college helps with is accreditation and making your shyt valid
You know how many professionals out here that went to college and don’t know jack shyt about their field
You know how many people get jobs just because who they know
Yes I’m glade I received a diploma
But it didn’t make me more intellectual

It's those public universities that steal money to fund sports programs that are highly expensive. It's way too many local colleges and online programs for that high cost excuse any more imo. And while we're at it, with Chat GPT writing the essays and Chat GPT grading the essays..., and LLMs ALSO replacing a lot of entry level jobs throughout the economy - it's time folks really think about stuff, instead of propping up a dead system.

You aren't being hired unless you have experience and/or a degree of some sort. For virtually any entry level job. Even tech jobs require significant experience. Experience you can't just make up yourself, unless you're the type of person who didn't need to go to college.

This country is done. Get yours how you can or move. Its wild how the rich convinced the poors education isn't important in under 20 years. Meanwhile the wealthy are still going to college, enrolling their toddlers into Ivy educational tracks.
