Of course they rejected it. They’re pockets are lined by the same jerks who they complain about when it’s the republicans.

I watched as states raise their wages over years. Years! And then I watch as billionaires got their money in months.

The system is corrupt.
Wrong again.

Extreme MW hikes hurt poor and minorities before they hurt anyone else.

You all focus on the MW argument because you have no real understanding of how to tackle middle wage growth. Thats the real problem. MW arguments are tee ball to people who claim they want to help but have no real substantive way of adding to the conversation in real policy ways.

The Minimum Wage is NOT the real issue here.

Because if you raise MW floor, it will affect more than 2% of your population.

You're argument is "Hey, if you're not making $7.25, why are you complaining?":troll:

Also arguing that apparently we can't walk and chew gum at the same time.
Clearly since we are talking about the lowest earners that means we don't care about increased wages for all workers
Cause.....

Reasons...
And always always having to be right

It kinda is though.

That 2% minimum wage earner quote may be accurate, but a shytload of the workforce isn't that much higher than that.

Here's the real problem though: since 1980 median earnings have been stagnant as shyt, while gdp per capita is through the roof.

And cost of living is going nowhere but up.

So what the fukk are we supposed to do about this? Obviously having the government telling corporations to raise wages/salaries across the board is just plain stupid. but we're on the road to a tipping point where industries are bound to collapse because the market can't keep driving economic growth. New car sales are stagnant, while loan keep getting longer. Banks are offering 7 year loan terms. 84 months breh.

I can't find it now, but I saw a video where some idiot said if companies didn't have to contend with minimum wage, they could sell their products for less. Extrapolating from the graphs above, I can safely say he was full of shyt.

Anyways, its more than just minimum wage earners that are affected by the minimum wage. A rising tide, after all...

1. Theres NO evidence that raising MW raises middle wages. In fact, throughout all the recent bumps, middle wages literally stayed where they were. In fact, many of them shrank.

2. I'm glad you mentioned what I've been saying all along...people dont want to let the government MAKE companies pay more...so whats the alternative? The MW argument is a shell game to get people away from the REAL problem with wage growth. Playing with the MW is a distraction. You know it. I know it.

3. No one on minimum wage should be comfortable. Unless making C's in school should make you comfortable. Even playing around with the term and equating it to a "living wage" is bullshyt. Why
should it? We're talking about the government setting a price so low that ANYONE who works ANYTHING has THAT as the legal standard of a minimum. Being on MW is not something people should sees as a marker of success or want to see a reflection of where things are "OK"...nah. Its fukked up down there. It SHOULD be. Its saying that people would pay you less if they could. You should not ever think you're entitled to much down there.

Eight men have as much wealth as 50% of world's population yet, $15 MW is too much :mjlol:

"Minimum wage should be $15 because rich people have lot of money to go around"... isn't a valid argument in favor of raising minimum wage.

That's an emotional argument.

8 people shouldn’t have as much wealth as 3.5 billion people :stopitslime:

It’s no different than saying 8 people deserve to have more water, air, electricity and food than 3.5 billion people. The reason you see no problem with it is because you and Nap think you gonna make it into that group of 8 one day :mjlol:

Bill Gates doesn't deserve to be a billionaire? Is that what you're saying?

How much of his fortune do you think he should be allowed to keep?

Bill Gates is giving away 99% of his wealth so off GP he disagrees with whatever lame argument you’re about to think up.

OP, alternative proposal: abolish MW, introduce UBI. Set it at an equivalent to say, 30 hours/week MW? Its paid to everyone 18+ unconditionally, tax-free. Not enough for someone to live independently, but enough to at least contribute to a household while they pursue education if they choose. This would naturally restrict the workforce, forcing competition for labor. Occupations in high demand from employers can pay more to get the talent needed.
