you just killed all the Toronto boys in that first bar ahaha

Abel is to males as to what Lana Del Rey is to females.
except Lana has actually went from a blatant character to doing a decent job humanizing herself more.

Lana and Abel is a great comparison, but Lana would've had to go thru a lot of change in her sound to go pop. She comes from money so she never felt that pressure to sell out; she just does her own thing.

Lana's one of the best American songwriters in music, BTW. Far better than Abel, always has been and even more so now.

This LDR slurpage is insane. We going to act like her first album wasnt pop and a dash of trip hop? When did she become this great songwriter? After Jack Antonoff laced her with a bunch of reverb? It surely couldnt have been on Born to die which is about 75%filler. Ultraviolence was her creative peak and even then fell off a cliff after track 5, though those first 5 tracks are amazing and the best shyt shes done. Surely couldnt have been lust for life or Honeymoon which essentially retreads all.her previous music. Suddenly she makes 9 minute songs and shes a great songwriter :laff:

I fukk with LDR and have been on her wave since her inception but yall need to listen to actual singer/songwriters or something if you think hwr pen is special. Weyes Blood does what LDR wants to do 10x better and have a superior album in that lane just last year.

Im just trying to wrap my mind around it because for the most part I like her but I wouldnt consider her songwriting better than okay. Can yall spell it out for me? Is it lyric, song comp, instruments...give me a lead on this. Saying the Weeknd is all studio tricks and production...and then propping up LDR is a level of cognitive dissonance I cant comprehend lol

. Plus SHE CANT SING :mjlol:

You bout to make me listen to Born to Die today to make sure my memory solid King :dead:

speaking of Lana, the hook of Jodeci's Freek'N You fits perfectly in the chorus of Lana's Norman Rockwell.

thank you for the correction.

I just completed the head phones, listening during day time and listening during a night drive. This album is flames. Easily better than BBM and more streamlined than Starboy.

I wasn’t a fan of snow child and would of preferred it cut in half is my only gripe with this album. This pop synth wave shyt is really hitting. I was surprised at the drum n bass song. Top two tracks for me are after hours and in your eyes.

all good breh, just in case you happen to be singing along to it in the future and some brand whore tries to correct you publicly like a dikkhead.

Overall, the production is flat and boring and the same for more than a handful of songs. Some of the tracks sound like they've only been laced with background vocals. Lyrics ain't shyt. Those women fukked the bruh Abel's head up

..but when that 80's electronic, synth, jazz mashup works at points during the album it's :blessed::ohlawd:
