Now this is another argument that a player should win a q month 7 game event to be considered as GOAT. Pele had an absolute beast NT, while Maradona had a very good WC and of course the so called myth that he carried a mediocre team when the truth it is not.
What CR7 and Messi have over the other two greats are longevity, better competition and STATS. PELE stayed in Brazil playing along side his NT teammates that are stacked against fishermen and farmers. Maradona Napoli is the PSG of today then add another myth of mediocre teammates.
I don't have GOAT in a team sports because it's a team who lose and win the games. Nobody talks about Jordan losing to the 80s Great teams when mentioning he's a GOAT.
You cant call me a casual when you don't even know the Brazilian league was one of the top 3 strongest leagues in the world during the time of Pele. It was way more competitive and balanced in terms of the quality of teams than La Liga is today. The Brasilero in the 50's 60's and 70's was similar to the Premier league as it is today.

And stats wise Pele is better than both Messi and Ronaldo. So is Romario, Puskas and Eusebio to name a few. You're clueless

man I love good soccer I can't watch MLS I tried . but I been watching world cup and Olympics since I was little. I would keep up with the European leagues more if its was on TV more . at least show highlights on sports center . i think soccer could eclipse baseball easily.

Premier League is on tv in the U.S. You may have to get a sports package from your cable provider though

Eu Sou O Segundo
You said the same before we played Germany

Last time I checked we came right at them and handled them

Can Brazil say the same????

7-1 on your own turf :Deion::Deion::Deion:

And that’s going to be the highlight of this WC for y’all. Mexicans are going to be talking about that win for years, because y’all won’t do anything bigger on the largest stage.

Y’all are the Tottenham of the WC

I don't get into the whole Ronaldo/Messi debates......but it's funny how Euro 2004 is never brought up. Portugal should've put that one to bed, on home soil, with Ronaldo on the pitch in the final, losing to Greece of all teams.

to me the world cup isn't a stain on messi, shyt he made it to a final. the international stain is missing out on copa america.
IMO, I think Messi did what he had to do in the international stage. 2 Copa finals, 1 WC final has the team leader is great objectively speaking and he played well in all 3 competitions. Obviously compared to Maradona (1 WC, and 1 WC final) or Ronaldo (1 Euro and 1 Euro final), this looks bad and he will be seen as a loser but if we let fanboyism away, that's actually good.

Though I agree that he should have won the 2016 Cop America because that Chile was not as good as the previous year.

I think seniority should prevail above all if his senior is Messi so I agree with the decision of having Messi over Dybala (it's no brainer really). Dude should have accepted to play out wide (I'm sure he could play as right winger like Messi was doing in Barça) so he could cut inside. This would have been far better than having Pavon as a starter smh.

My thoughts exactly

um the Brazilian league was arguably strongest league at that time.

and Copa Libertadores de América was JUST as strong as the European league. That's why Pele's Santos kept washing all the champions of Euro all the time

Wasn't he like 18? Unreasonable expectations under those circumstances. He wasn't even Portugal's star player at the tournament, that would have been Figo and Rui Costa

And it doesn't change a thing that he played against farmers and fishermen while having a stacked team. Seriously have you seen the defending in that era ?
A league of made up of all Brazilians he had 7 i think NT players in Santos. Then when Pele was injured a name Toninho took the scoring load and he had 60 goals with friendlies then had 78 in a year.
