No, what they should do is educate themselves on who's hiring them and how that group has treated them while we've been in America. Whites aren't going to let black women into their jobs regardless how educated they are (and they def won't hold significant influence in these companies).

shyt, this isn't the first time this has happened you know. Right after reconstruction, black men AND women went ham on education. And cacs, being who they are made sure that regardless of how "educated" we were, still practiced white supremacy.

I'd give those black women the same advice I gave my girl: you can't pass down a job to your children. Focus on owning your own business, hiring other black men and women, and doing business with other black businesses.

Unless you believe white people finally decided to stop discriminating against our women.

Racism exists, no doubt about that. But at the same time education opens doors that weren't open 100 years ago, or 50 years ago. I agree we should open more businesses, which is why I'm glad to see black women are doing it more now than ever before in US history.

Real talk though, the biggest issue for professional black employment isn't racism or discrimination today: it's the lack of networking. My aunt is a HS teacher and a couple times a year I speak at school events. My message is usually the same: join clubs and groups in college. Help your professor when given the opportunity. Attend those annoying job events at your school. More often than not positions aren't just determined by what you know, it's who you know. So often white kids get jobs because their dad knows someone. We need to be in position to take advantage of that where possible, and help others.

A lot of companies WANT to hire minorities and women, for recruiting purposes. One thing I noticed during interviews was how much emphasis was put on "diversity." Not just in business, hell look at tech. Companies are begging women to go into IT fields. MS is at inner city schools trying to recruit blacks and Hispanics. But knowing someone makes it a lot easier to get those jobs.

Get a degree that works for you brehs. I see a lot of kids, black/white/Hispanic/etc, getting junk degrees. History, general studies, etc. Not a good idea. There are companies that WANT to hire a black IT tech, or accountant, or engineer, etc so they can say "hey look who we hired, we're moving into the 21st century while [insert competitor] lags behind!" Take advantage of that shyt. I've seen it first hand.

Come on breh, who are those rappers talking about? It's black men rapping about bytches and hoes. The same way it's rappers talking about how much richer they are than our broke asses and how they can easily fukk all our bytches.

It's inferred and we both know it (the same way the author infers J Cole is talking positively about black women in the crooked smile song).

or it could be inferred they're talking about all the mixed and nonblack women that are usually around rappers. you're reacing :beli:

Come on breh. Networking matters if the person you're networking with is black. There's a reason why having a black sounding name makes you 50% LESS likely to receive a call back on your resume.

Our number one problem in this country has always been racism. Like I said, this isn't the first time we've been at this exact same cross roads. 20 years from now, black women will still be at the bottom of every socio-economic indicator in this country.

weak...

Just like how every black person is disrespected because they dare to think differently from the crowd.
I'm more black than you and that's a fact. I can trace my Ghanaian heritage to my great great great great grandfather.
Let's see you do the same :mjlol:

You don't even believe that bullshyt.

once again, if you want to make the argument they disrespect women in full, go for it. but if you want to lie and claim they're specifically talking about black women, prove it.

gotta remain consistent

:pacspit:

that's your problem though bruh. instead of actually being objective you shape your arguments, regardless of the topic, to fit this online persona you've created. Chris B is a lost cause, but you're smarter than this. If a black man wrote that same article you'd co-sign it as she makes the exact same points that many people, including you, have made on here. but because it's a black woman it's like you automatically go into defense mode

nah, i don't agree with the argument black women are devalued simply because of rap music and tv. that's some simplistic shyt that doesn't go into the real reason women are valued by their men.
