Second, outside of cacs cacing, if hip-hop isn't the #1 negative contributor of black people's image, I don't know what is. I can't think of another form of media that's bigger.

so you mean outside of all the important shyt that shapes the minds of black youth before they're even 5 yrs old? :rudy:

Yeah....there is something to be said for this. Barkley and Lemon advanced this meritless debate about black people devaluing education as "acting white", but I've never seen any public movement for this idea among blacks like I see this constant undercurrent of rancor and venom among gender lines in many conversations in the public forum.

Some black people seem to be in this constant state of competition to see how far they can throw the other gender under the bus, by letting the world know that its the other sides fault for our poor reputation in the broader society, and our perceived lack of collective growth as a category. The Lemon/Barkley debate was part and parcel to this psychology.

Its just a pool of insecurity that feeds into a larger body of bullshyt, which becomes a rushing rapid of collective neuroticism. Include white people too, who largely scapegoat blacks for societal ills in order to feel better about themselves and their own failings. America has a lot of wealth and success, but we are an obnoxious unbalanced mess when it comes to conversations about the other. Pathetic to listen to people talk shyt, because its so blatantly obvious they're projecting.
I've been saying for a minute how funny it is when people unknowingly/subconsciously expose their insecurities on here. Whether it be body image, self-worth or everything in between. What makes it worse is that they use their experiences as the litmus test for casting those broad generalizations that perpetuate the bullshyt you're mentioning. In either case this whole topic is really :deadhorse: so I'll just eat this  and see who comes in this thread.

if you want to make the argument that rappers are misogynist, go for it. but 95% of rappers don't speak negatively about black women in particular, that's basically gutting your fanbase.

The article isn't talking about children though. At 5 years old those kids more than likely aren't listening to Lil Wayne and watching Scandal (unless they have some shytty ass parents).

The article is specifically talking about the media's role in how black women are portrayed.

Nah, what you deemed propaganda was actually a hyperbolic statement. No one's hyping anything up.
its propaganda. and young black males grow up believing that kinda bullshyt, thinking y'all are just as capable to handle communal responsibilities that women traditionally dont.

if ya'll would actually read the damn article you'd realize she's saying the exact same shyt ya'll nyggas say in every damn thread

Because this is what black men often see and bob their heads to, they believe this to be the true essence of the “real” black woman. I challenge black men to change their people, places, and situations if they are looking for a “real” black woman. The black women who are gentle-spirited, intelligent, maternal, ambitious, self-sufficient, self-disciplined, mentally healthy, who have the ability to submit, and know how to be supportive – is probably not in the club every weekend. She is not showing her body parts on social media every five minutes. She is not spending every dime that she doesn’t have on Brazilian hair, acrylic nails, and the latest designer purse. She may be studying to further her education or learning how to better herself in general. She may be sleeping on Saturday night because she has to go to church Sunday morning. She is surrounding herself with others who will help her grow into the woman that she wants to be.

Come on breh, who are those rappers talking about? It's black men rapping about bytches and hoes. The same way it's rappers talking about how much richer they are than our broke asses and how they can easily fukk all our bytches.

It's inferred and we both know it (the same way the author infers J Cole is talking positively about black women in the crooked smile song).

Didn't stop dark skinned black women from shaking their asses to it in the club, buying his albums or going to all his shows.
