At the very best the US government is made up of Americans and the rich won’t have their playground if the US doesn’t exist.
The worst the US government does to its own citizens is much better than worse that the CCP has in mind for US citizens. If you genuinely think otherwise, go live over there and talk about Taiwan and Tiananmen Square and see how quick you end up dead or in a prison cell. When Facebook or Google or whatever company comes out is actually doing something terrible, at the very least even if they’re evil, they’re still American companies with American shareholders and will in some way be affected by negative news. Zuckerbot took a beating in Congress and FBs stock price has never been the same. Elon Musk is racist edgy internet troll with the maturity of a 13 year old and Twitters stock price reflects that. And you bet losing all that money hurts that ugly fukk.
TikTok CEO lies in front of congress, doesn’t fukking matter, you can’t buy TikTok stock. It’s privately owned by a Chinese company which by virtue of being a Chinese company makes them an extension of the CCP. China could bankroll TikTok with the change between their couch cushions. They have no incentive, political, social, or financial, to ever actually cease any activities that actively harmful to Americans.
Tell me what company the US government has golden shares in, that make them the effective owners of said company?
I saw what Trump and his team did with Cambridge Analytica, the ability to target specific people for essentially brainwashing through psycho metrics to vote for Trump . If you think that same kind of technology and targeted media can’t be used to fuel stochastic terrorism, or already hasn’t, than you’ve been asleep.
All that being said, Congress can go fukk themselves with the Draconian bullshyt bill they pushed a couple weeks ago. I would hate to see genuine distrust around TikTok be exploited to help Big Brother. But I’m also aware enough to know that China being behind the biggest social media platform in the world means it will actively use it against the best interest of US citizens.

No one knows or cares about who owns the Coli. Nikkas know China owns Tik Tok and there are people that are reasonably uncomfortable with that. Nikkas that even admit Tik Tok is a great app have concerns with it literally being Chinese spyware

one allows you to discuss actual topics, anonymously, with no social gain or ulterior motive; in detail about things you probably wont get to have a freeform discussion on in day to day life.
social media posting is generally hollow, simplistic, involves your life; and generally involves individuals looking to nurture or boost a real life social status and portray an image.
most of the time, social media users won't touch a discussion forum.
