all forms of social media are a plague on black thought.
Fake deep
I hate how all the defense of tik tok to people who hate tik tok is "you need to get educated on it."

Sound like a bunch of crypto bros.

Give a real reason besides "you just don't understand."

Some hate it because of the horrible content. You can say it's your algorithm, but IT fukkING ISNT. There are plenty of times it FORCES YOU to see something. For instance, when elden ring dropped, everyones feed was elden ring even if they never played a single video game in their entire life. Stop acting like the algorithm is some holy instrument that only reflects your habits, and not some manipulative piece of shyt.

Instagram literally has a feature to basically mute suggestions 1 month at a time, making you "for you" to be PURELY people you follow.
As you post on TLR. A forum with no filter and is filled with fake militant and manosphere dapfest
in all fairness, social media posting and forum posting are completely different things lol

one allows you to discuss actual topics, anonymously, with no social gain or ulterior motive; in detail about things you probably wont get to have a freeform discussion on in day to day life.

social media posting is generally hollow, simplistic, involves your life; and generally involves individuals looking to nurture or boost a real life social status and portray an image.

most of the time, social media users won't touch a discussion forum.
Posting on forums in 2023 is not completely different.

Most what’s posted on forums is reacting to stuff originally posted on social Media

What you’re describing is done better on Facebook and twitter

YouTube is the best social media app.

TikTok and Instagram strive on short form video so even if the content isn’t Internet fukkery there usually isn’t enough time to go deep into whatever subject matter.
That's the mistake a lot of people make tho. Long form content is not automatically better and short form is not automatically bad

One of the reasons Tik Tok is taking everybody's lunch money is because most of these nikkas talk too much. I skip the first few minutes of most YouTube vids because nikkas usually ain't talking about shyt anyway

I saw a tweet about a Tik Tok vid on how to plug a tire. A few of the comments were pointing out how efficient and knowledgeable Tik Tok vids are compared to YouTube. A YouTube vid about that same info would be 15 minutes with some dumb ass unnecessary intro, 30 wasted seconds on begging nikkas to like/subscribe etc:scust:

I enjoy YouTube, and there is a place for long form content, but most of these nikkas ain't saying shyt and have WAY too much fat on their content

Tik Tok's superpower is it's conciseness

that's fine that you don't want that here in America, I'm not talking about adults viewing habits, so I don't care what tiktok or youtube pushes to you.

letting children have access to an addictive platform that just shows them whatever they desire is not good for development of children. they need to be restricted to kid friendly and educational content, it shouldn't be "well if the kid wants to see it then that's what they'll see" when it comes to children.

you seem to value your own desires and entertainment over what is good for the minds of children in this country, that's fine. we disagree.

:manny:

I value an individuals choice as long as it doesn't harm others, that ethos guides the majority of my stances if you care to look over what i've posted about anything on here.

Repeating it doesn't make you right:pachaha:

Nikkas keep telling you in detail why they're uncomfortable with a Chinese app and you keep doubling down on "nobody cares who owns an app"

You really want this to be a "coli and reddit nikkas are awkward lol" issue like this hasn't been national news for years

No one knows or cares about who owns the Coli. Nikkas know China owns Tik Tok and there are people that are reasonably uncomfortable with that. Nikkas that even admit Tik Tok is a great app have concerns with it literally being Chinese spyware

I know you thought this thread was an opportunity to be the cool nikka on a message board but the premise is weak :manny::pachaha:
When has anyone worried about where an app was from until Trump started repeating it?

Some folks worried is the same folks accepting any and all cookies with an unsecured outdated router at the crib.
I've already addressed this, as many others have in this thread

We know all these apps are spying on us, but a Chinese app spying on us is a cause of great concern for many. This also exists in a greater context of China's power moves over the last decade+

You don't have to agree but nikkas refusing to see why this is something concerning to people is wild

I think aspects of the Chinese part of it are valid, but I increasingly think all forms of social media are corrosive, dangerous, whatever word you want to use.

There's really nothing that can or will be done about it, as a whole, but it's just something I think will be looked back on.

Look at Facebook from 2010 until now. I watched The Social Network the other night again, and I think no one really understand how powerful it would be a decade or so later.

No it is not lol twitter limits the discussion or atleast the main premise to a certain amount of characters.

Facebook is generally limited to circles you have connections to in real life. Here Im talking to someone that has no social ties to me, so they dont have to be nice, or polite...they can be real. They could also ve people from all over the fukking world, where once again, facebook is limited to people I in some way know.

Both arent anonymous either, meaning there is more social ramifications and people have a desire to get followers and such and reach fame.

Not the same man, forums are better. Theres a reason why the jocks and cheerleaderw pnly use those things and not a forum

Not being anonymous grounds the convos in some form a reality

Everything here is extreme and absurd.

If you’re talking about forums in the 00s, then you have a point. Forums now, it’s totally different

Nah, when it isn't anonymous people censor themselves or hang out in echo chambers or don't really present interesting ideas because it's riskier.

Facebook discussions are generally more tame and stupid than shyt I'll see on smart forums. BUT if you only use theColi, then I can see how you feel that way, I generally use thecoli for my "funny" forum. But there are forums with more serious and intelligent communities.

Expand on why it's different now. I mean...I might agree that it is or has been influenced by social media's stupidity more (in the early 2000's reputation systems or "daps" and "negs" didn't exist. that's some social hierarchy shyt that social media brought along.)
