in what metal gear game were you ever forced to walk in one direction, with no control over the pacing or what to do next?

That's some Uncharted shyt. Not Metal Gear

So the boss fight with quiet wasn't reminiscent of other boss fights in the series? How about the one with the Metal Gear?
It's funny you're saying that's some Uncharted shyt when those exact forced walk scenes in Uncharted 1-3 are there for PACING itself. The walking through the desert in UC3 was like that because of what just went down. You just landed from a damn plane crash. You're on a big ass journey. He says oh boy. He's dying of thirst. I mean not to get too realistic but that moment was exactly what they were trying to convey.

And Yes, Metal Gear does have forced walk scenes.
the microwave scene in MGS4.

The Ghost RIver in MGS3.

It wasn't open world though. It was "open-linear"... The very same thing I told you countless times in this thread which I said is the best route. Games like Halo, TLOU, UC4 etc. THAT is much better than going the extreme and making open world.

And most of the popular games from last game WERE linear. Thanks for proving my point.
Best games last gen?
Bioshock-Linear
Call of Duty MW-Linear
Uncharted 1-3-Linear
TLOU-Linear
Bayonetta-Linear
Ninja Gaiden-Linear
call of duty doesn't belong here as it is a multiplayer shooter. and outside of cod none of these games sold as well as the aforementioned open world games. except maybe TLOU

There's so much here. I get it, you hate linear games and you think Sony games suck.
be insecure brehs:scust:

And is Halo 5 open world? Nope.
the big new innovation of halo5. Warzone mode, a big ass sandbox wih absolutely no story:ohhh:

So what about chapter 2?? Didn't you HAVE to do side ops??
only the ones integral to the story like saving the kids.

I can't read what's not there. All I saw you mention was the Quiet Fight. That's it?? The Skulls fight weren't even like a boss fight, it was just some enemies. There was nothing like anything from the past MGS titles in MGSV. For every boss fight or even boss like encounter for MGSV, there's a bunch of em in past ones.
there was about 5-7 as I recall in mgs. there was about 5 in MGSV.

The games I mentioned were mainly exclusives. TLOU sold about 9 million so far on two platforms. 8 on PS3 and 1 on PS4. ACIV sold 11 million on multiple platforms.

Nah, you're just meaching as usual.

Isn't that a multiplayer mode?? Calling it an innovation is just repeating PR shyt. You think the majority of hardcore fans play BTB?? I'm sure Halo MP=Slayer.

and there awfully similar to main story missions.

But when Uncharted does it despite everything else not being like that it's suddenly wahhhh they taking control away from me. Lol you buggin.
That intro was mainly cutscenes with some gameplay interspersed between. Again, the intro's pacing was overly long. The forced walking.. if you call it that made sense. You just got out of a coma nikka... You would make terrible games if you were up to it lol. Yup, I guess snake should've just hopped out of the bed from a 9 year coma and just start sprinting and doing CQC on fully armored soldiers in the name of "gameplay" huh?

You sound like you just want arcadey games.

Open world is boring stale game design.

Its just a checklist of time filler that usually makes no sense in the context of the narrative because they want to pad game time.

And who cares about exploring when you got studios like bethesda that reuse assets, npcs and everything else. Youre just seeing the same locations with slight differences over and over. Half your play time is running between objectives because they purposely place them far apart to pad game length

Games stories have no pacing anymore and often doesnt make sense.

Games like shadow of mordor are the lowest form of game to me. Just so generic and predictable. Just an open world snooze fest with 0 thought put into it.

Sandbox gameplay is dope. Open world game design is garbage.

Collecting orbs for no reason, climbing things to unlock a map, helping a sheep farmer find his pants in the village over while the game is pushing a doomsday narrative makes no sense and is just lazy filler.

Open world design is for casuals.
Open world is for casuals.
It's funny seeing dudes like @Mowgli call the games I mentioned casual when the majority of these open world games are casual as hell.

You mean to tell me Metal Gear Rising is casual?
Bayonetta is casual?
Ninja Gaiden is casual?
Contra is casual?

Tony Hawk Pro Skater>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Underground.
Riddle me this..
Is that MGO y'all playing open world online?? I bet you it isn't.
Who's seriously competing in GTA V online??

Name a better game from what I mentioned here that's open world.
Because Witcher 3 is fukking trash in the gameplay department and so is Shadows of Mordor.
There is ZERO good hack and slash open world games as good as these...
MAYBE platinums upcoming XB1 game will be good.

Why is the most played MP game on Steam a linear MP shooter?(CS:GO)

I swear you dudes would eat up a open world 2d fighter if they made one .

uncharted does that for the entire game. You are either in a boring arena shooting the same boring enemies, or you are being forced down a corridor toward the next cutscene.

No, they should have just made it a cutscene. No need for me to hold up on the controller to watch the damn movie play out

yeah, no reason for them to be in "side ops" other than kojima being kojima

Skulls twice. Burning man twice, Metal Gear, Quiet
LOL.
The Skulls aren't boss fights but i'll let you list that.

The Man on Fire?? You mean the guy you shoot a few times so he falls in water and dies?
Metal Gear fight was Okay.
Quiet Fight was the only good boss fight since it reminded me of MGS3's Sniper fight.

Now let's use.. MGS3 boss fights to compare.

  • The End (if The End was killed earlier on, he is replaced by members of the Ocelot Unit)

You have much better fights here. The Boss Fight, the Shagohod, the Unit Fights and so on.

Yup. They seemed to have gotten away with it for a whole generation. :wow: How could gamers, critics not see this?? sales?? Just a bunch of stans. :ohhh:

No, they should have just made it a cutscene. No need for me to hold up on the controller to watch the damn movie play out
But then wouldn't you just turn on Netflix if you want to watch a damn movie? :troll:

Metroidvania style world>>>>>>>Bloated icon filled world with pointless objectives and towers to climb, basically Ubisoft games.:scust:
Yup.

Collecting Pidgeons and spending 60 more hours on converting scrap metal into money to upgrade your pistol is all the rage these days. That's why I don't even take the "Game takes XXX hours to beat!!" PR seriously. The games usually are much shorter. it's just padded with other shyt to make you think it's long. It's artificially lengthened.

people like it. doesn't change what it is:manny:

if the game didn't have 40+ hours of GAMEPLAY to go along with the cut scenes then I wouldn't play it
