A community is a place of people with common interest and goals. These communities own and control a majority of the interest and resources in their area. I live in Prince George County, Maryland, one of the wealthiest areas for Blacks in America and we don't own or control anything. That's why the money doesnt circulate in the hood long, but we don't own a damn thing.

The only thing you can almost call the Black community is the Black Low Income Areas., which aren't communities, they're HOODS . Communities come together and work together by choice. Most people in the hood have no other choices or places to live.

Every Black Person with a smidge of Success leaves the hood a for a nicer, safer mixed neighborhood. And does absolutely nothing for the hood or community. We're not even concern with the community we're living in, just living and working. Don't attend council meetings or even know who the mayor or councilmen are in the city or town. Most people or families are on a island.

Took me a while to realize this. 90% of Black get good jobs, marry, stop having kids out of wedlock there still will be no Black Community. We'll just move to a mix neighborhood and live to ourselves and raise our families. Nothing wrong with that seemingly, but it want help or create a Black Community.

There is a Black Church Community, a microcosm of a normal community. They control and own the resources and interest of the church. I feel like the church should do more to educate help Black people create, control interest and own property in their neighborhoods.

i think once with get men owning and controlling things, then we can build a community.

I agree with this, but that requires black folk start going to church again. Black Church participation dropped off a cliff in the early 90s.
I was discussing something similar with a friend of mine. We talked about getting black churches to rent out parts of their buildings as office space for local businesses, but the prospect of losing their tax exempt status for doing such is great.

Groups only need 4 things to considered a community.
1) Active participance in communal affairs also someone actually knowing who you are.
2) Involvement by choice, not by convivence.
3) Common Interest in whatever a community is about
4) Give N Take of resources whether they are tangible or not.

There are plenty of black communities in this country, and the concept of community hasn't went left the building completely.

Only remedy at this late date is to look out for yourself and your family.
The future doesn’t look pretty for people in America.

It’s not gonna happen for various reasons. Back during the Bush administration government started giving churches money to stay out of politics. I think that includes not doing things that are not based around faith. Also I don’t think the desire is there.
