Leaving the EU doesn't have to be a bad thing, I wouldn't be all that opposed either if circumstances where different. It's the xenophobia and racism that's caused brexit I have an issue with, not brexit itself.
Add to that the fact that we have a Tory government who will strip away workers rights and the NHS and brexit right now is a disaster.
Exactly.
Corbyn was fairly privately anti-EU because he worried it could be and has been used to steamroll conservative economics into its member states to the benefit of the strong and fukking up the poorer states, it reduces the ability of each individual member state to enact progressive policies and leads to a mismatched Europe of creditors (Germany, France, etc) and debtors (Portugal, Greece etc). He was publicly pro-EU with the proviso that it needed some serious socialist reforms to make it a genuinely fair union.
In the end he was happy to stump for Remain because Brexit wasn't being sold as an opportunity to make socialist reforms, it was entirely about getting out of the European Court of Human Rights and the European Parliament even if it means inflaming racism and xenophobia at home, turning us into laughing stocks abroad and losing access to the most important import/export market in our area of the world.
I very much doubt anyone but the Lib Dems will try (and I honestly think we've learnt our lesson there), but there could be 48% of the voting populace ready for someone who says they'll rip the whole Brexit shyt up and give us another vote...
