THE MONEY THAT PASTOR'S MAKE ON SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS ARE TAXED LIKE NORMAL. TELEVANGELIST MONEY IS ALSO TAXED AS LONG AS THE SHOW IS BASED ON THE MINISTER VS. THE CHURCH.

except most churches are renting schools/another church, and have a small congregation and barely are making rent nor taking a salary. Congregation is like family and looks out for each other

When my aunt died, we found out that she'd been giving hella money to a megachurch that she'd never stepped foot in. This was in addition to the money she'd been giving her home church.

And the only problem i have about tithing is the 10%. That's a mighty hefty percentage.

My homeboy started going to church when he got out of high school. He had a job where he brought home about $350 a week and he would tithe $35 each Sunday. He began working overtime and started bringing home $500 a week. He continued tithing $35. The pastor's son worked at the same job my homeboy did, so the pastor knew my homeboy was clockin' OT. One Sunday after service, the pastor pulled my homie to the side and said "I know you've been working OT. How come you are still tithing $35? Don't rob God, son."


I would've cussed that muthafukka out.

NOPE. CHURCHES ARE TAX FREE IN COUNTRIES WHERE THERE ARE NO POLITICAL PARTIES ALSO. MOST COUNTRIES GIVE MAJOR DEDUCTIONS/CREDITS FOR ORGANIZATIONS THAT GIVE BACK TO COMMUNITIES. CHURCHES ARE BY FAR THE LARGEST FUNNELS FOR CONTRIBUTORS TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES. IF A CHURCH DOES TOO MUCH LOBBYING FOR A SPECIFIC CANDIDATE THEY COULD LOSE THEIR TAX EXEMPT STATUS. IT'S ONE OF THE REASONS YOU SEE SOME PASTORS INVITE CANDIDATES THEY DON'T EVEN ENDORSE TO THEIR CHURCHES. THEY HAVE TO BALANCE IT IN SOME WAYS.
