The music G Funk LOOPED/INTERPOLATED is timeless...
Never once said that his beats were the most creative, but he has an ear for samples better than most.He is not even in the Top 10 most creative...
Dude has made the same beat for the past 20 or so years...I find it fascinating that his fans can't hear it...He has a template that he just plugs in different samples, makes a few adjustments, et voila, "new" Premo beat...
I can hear it as clear as a church bell at noon...I guess I am not deafened by appreciation...![]()
Was done reading this bullshyt right here... Fukk you, your "logic", & your tusk analogy. Premo is a proven legend at sampling, & you'z a muthafukkin nobody.Premo IS NOT one of the more creative samplers...
(1) Just because something "ain't hard at all to comprehend" it doesn't mean it is a solid argument...And by extension g-funk is timeless.
You one of them dudes that just likes to argue? What these people are saying ain't hard at all to comprehend.
Fred.
(1) What does this even mean?Never once said that his beats were the most creative, but he has an ear for samples better than most.
(1) There really is no such thing as "great sampling"...Most of the time the original sample is already GREAT, and that's why it is being used in the first place...Some samplers are more creative than others...
Premo IS NOT one of the more creative samplers...He has made the same beat almost his entire career...If you can't hear it, I guess "ignorance is bliss"...Good for you...
(2) It is an APPROPRIATE metaphor...You have a beautiful animal, an elephant (a beautiful original composition). A poacher sees this beautiful animal, and decides it is going to butcher it (sampling/chopping), just saw he can use the tusks to make beautiful ornaments (Hip Hop), and most times, the poacher just leaves the carcass (the rest of composition) unused...
Makes PERFECT sense...
Stop "fake outraging"chill out on tha G-Funk disrespect. None of us need 2 get reckless 2 prove a point
Stop "fake outraging"
(1) Where is the "disrespect" in that statement?
(2) FYI, I love G Funk...I am just pointing out who REALLY deserves the credit...
(1) I didn't state that "Premier ain't creative"....Preme ain't creative? This dude sampled birds chirping on Nas is like. Even if you think he makes the same beat over and over, that would be the creativity of the beat you have an issue with. A dude could be creative as fukk sampling as sorts of crazy shyt and make an ass beat with it. I seen a video the other day of son making a beat with only hairstyle accessories. That's creative as hell, but don't mean the song gonna be tight.
Premier ain't creative.....have you even heard Come Clean?
fukk up....hip hop built off samplingI don't give a fcuk...
I am sticking with my opinion...Sampling is POACHING...You are killing an elephant just to make pretty ornaments with its tusks, but the rest of the body goes to waste...
I sample all the time...But I am not deluded about what it really is...
Yet, you are the one who has yet to post a counter argument...if you are not going to defend your position, then just ignore my arguments...No fake outrage. You just talkin outcha ass tryna be cute.
(1) I am not arguing against that...fukk up....hip hop built off sampling

(2) That "soul" that they are going on about is from the ORIGINAL recording...PERIOD.
(3) Kanye West sampled Daft Punk for "Stronger" does that song sound "soulful?" No...Even though it was a MASSIVE record...
(4) Therefore, the original composer who created the "soul" DESERVES 100% of the credit, because the "soulfulness" is record dependent...Not every old school recording will give you the "soul"...That's why crate diggers search a certain records from certain eras...They now how much of a difference it makes...
Another example, Jay Z rapped on a Kraftwerk sample for "Sunshine," which is a DOPE beat (in my opinion), but is it a "soulful" beat like "Nothing But G Thang?" No
(5) Can you comprehend where I am going with this, or do you want me to write a 3000 words essay...?
(1) I am not arguing against that...
(2) The OP made a statement that "Sampling is so important"...It was when Rap Music didn't have it's own musical elements...But Rap Music it is own identity now...
Sampling isn't that important now...
Another poster stated that "you can make your own composition and then sample it"....Or you can make a composition that sounds like a sample...
(3) Rap Music is better than it ever was in terms of the music...Beatmakers today are way ABOVE the older dudes...
There are better examples of sample flips...This sounds like the typical cookie cutter Premo beat...
Plus, a smart person could argue that Hip Hop sampling is like poaching...You are killing an elephant just to use the tusks, but don't make use of the rest of the body...
