i'm so sick of these fake wannabe elitist idiots acting like they're above someone because of their title or some other silly shyt. they need a hard slap to the face for a reality check. raise the minimum wage because everyone will benefit from it.

I can’t stand it. That Black Bourgeois nonsense is beyond irritating. There’s a “Young Black Professionals” (or whatever) association where I live, and I almost joined it. Then the thought of regularly being around a bunch of arrogant and pompous Black Greek types changed my mind. Nah...I’m good.
:francis:

I’m a down-to-earth dude, and I couldn’t stand being around those types of people for too long.

Targeting the one of the most profitable companies in the world and using its executives’ pay as justification for across the board $15 federal minimum wage increase is a simple argument.

An increase like that can benefit people who work at large businesses which can eat that wage increase and likely carry the cost over to the consumer. Also, many small businesses (not run by billionaires but by everyday people) with thinner margins may not be able to absorb that increase. So a lot of the same businesses that are struggling during the COVID crises (principally restaurants) will just be shut back down, without the ability to relocate to less expensive area and provide jobs elsewhere.

Make no mistake, I’m for increasing the federal wage (I supported the 15.00 increase in San Francisco) but doubling it in a lot of cases nationally may have unintentional effects.

My parents didn't make much money, we was lower middle class. Matter of fact we was living off food stamps at one point and didn't even own a car. Money for college? Hell nah they couldn't pay for that. My first car? Hell nah they couldn't buy me a car.

As for job market, sure. Transportation doesn't go to some areas and it's hard. But as I said prior I don't believe in getting stuck with a low paying job for 5+ years. I don't believe in wasting you early 30s flipping burgers. Fast food and retail should be temporary jobs, otherwise you're simply not hungry enough.
It doesn’t matter what you believe In or what ideals you hold, things just are in this fukked up world until we can fix them. It’s commendable you’re trying to make the best of your self but always remember life can change for good or bad in a second.Always remember pride comes before a fall:ufdup:

You just did

Nah...dude is trying to shyt on fast food workers while he’s stamping boxes in a warehouse. That’s like a stripper looking down on an Onlyfans “model”. If anything, preparing food takes more skill than his position does (depending on what he does in the warehouse).
:gucci:

Even if you take it that way, so what? I’ll make an exception for his ass. He needs to be brought down a few notches. It wouldn’t matter if it were a janitor or a neurosurgeon. If a brother’s doing honest work, I respect it. That being said, don’t try to shyt on others if you don’t want to be shytted on.

If a small business can’t afford to pay their workers a livable wage they shouldn’t be open or hire workers. Do the work yourself or with family.

Your emotional non-reply notwithstanding there was zero argument or substance.

I worked for Amazon in a warehouse not even 3 years ago. It was neither hellish nor did it lack benefits.

Get your news and talking points somewhere other than salon.com. Better yet visit an actual warehouse and see first hand. This “I heard it over here” shyt is getting old on this forum

Ah ok, unskilled uneducated underpaid easily replaced laborer with Stockholm syndrome , maybe one day you’ll be in a position to study and understand the history and dynamics of labor vs ownership in this country and then you’ll revisit your embarrassing post caping for billionaires like Jeff bezos who pay you pennies while you look at him like he’s some benevolent god who is blessing you with employment, and you’ll cringe at your bootlicking

Ol “they treated me real good there man you have Jeff bezos wrong! I am here to set the record straight! ” ass lame

Ok so let me get this straight you are calling yourself the self styled champion of low paid workers rights while insulting them at the same time? :dead:

I worked there for maybe 2 months then found a better job. Like most normal people. You are the weirdo making a big deal out of what he pays his workers. Nobody else cares. You either work there or you don’t so what.

Right, however I’m not just talking mom and pop stores. A small business in any business with under 500 employees, and they account for roughly 50% of the economy. My point is that a “living wage” is wildly different across the country. Trust me, I live in the CA Bay Area, I know. It’s not as simple as these corporations have all the money, they can employ us all. We might as well move to UBI if any labor at all is entitled to food and housing no matter where you live. We’re trending towards UBI anyway if automation outstrips new economic sector growth, and that Amazon worker in OP will def be out of work.

Yep, people live their entire lives thriving off of having someone else to look down on. The more people they feel they can look down on the better. So elevating the folks at the bottom becomes a BIG problem because it removes some peoples ability to look down; those folks now have to look sideways and that shyt bothers them.

The innate selfishness and pettiness of mankind is ripe for exploitation by current capitalism. Humanity and the wealthy have perfected that formula.

The broke nikkas making just above min wage will be the ones crying hardest about this new 15$ an hour; trust me....

They need to put a cap on the wealth of these billionaires:martin:. If your workers are helping you increase profits give them more money. At least the ones who have been there longest. Pay them more while working them less hours. So if they were making 20 an hour working 40 hours. You would now have to pay them 40 an hour and they work 20 hours a week.
