so religion is why white people for all these years have hated black people? i think not my friend. dont use religion as the ultimate scapegoat. when its not.People complain about their financial situations just as much. Not a day will go by when you don't walk down the street and hear someone talking about how their bills are late, or they can't afford this, that. People choose to squander their earnings, and if you attempt to advise them on their monetary expenditures, it will fall on nothing but deaf ears.
Religion, however, I feel, is a more pressing issue - it affects our understanding of the world (or misunderstanding), can affect human lives (religion based diets, refusal to receive medical treatment, etc), and in my personal view, is actively holding back mankind from becoming one and advancing as a unit, rather that dispersed segments that constantly contradict and bring each other down. Believing in religion persuades one to subscribe to the idea that the universe revolves around us, and we are the ultimate centre of it all. Centuries ago, we KNEW the earth was flat. A few centuries after that we KNEW we were the centre of the solar system. What we know now is the complete opposite. We are but cosmic dust mites, in the grander scheme of things. To insinuate that there is a higher being that created one planet and only one planet of life, seems absurd. What if we discover aliens? Are they too the design and work of God?
What we knew back then, does not hold true now.
Curious how in the modern age where everything is quantified and recorded, there are no more grand miracles such as the parting of the Seas, or healing of the lame.
pertaining to your second reply, it is merely at the expense of time. spiritual enlightenment is a choice, not a requirement - religious individuals have an unfortunate knack for pushing this upon us. Many live happy, fulfilling lives without a shed of religion.
But.. I shall not stop you from believing - as long as it makes you a better person.

no religion, we would still not be ONE. You can't take away selfishness without GOD being the power behind getting rid of it. because then only SELF is in power vs something more then self. you cant mirror selflessness without GOD. since no human can 100% show you pure selflessness. since no human is 100% perfect even though some are striving for perfection.

I watched this earlier and man I was DYING laughing. It is really disturbing but after a point it just gets outrageous. It's about as bad as that Koran documentary on HBO where they try to find young kids who can recite it the best. It's damn near the same amount of fukkery. Religion is just comedy to me now.
