I absolutely love this tournament. I haven’t been this engaged with four games left in forever.

:wow: I’m out here watching Hawks & Celtics games this late hoping for them to collapse.

There's always been competition over the past week of the season between the bottom feeders. The only thing that has changed this year is the status of some of the players in that predicament.

The only tweak they could make going forward is a play in tournament may not be warranted each year. If there is say more than 2 games separation between 7-8, 8-10 than there would be no need.
This makes no sense. Win and you won't have this problem. And now if it's done the way you propose, if I was an owner who was in the 7th/8th slot in a prev. yr that got bumped out b/c of the play in game, I'd be pissed.

49ers..Braves..Celtics
If the NBA just did the Top 16, matchups would be:
(1) Utah- (16) Memphis
(2) Phoenix- (15) Boston
(3) Philadelphia- (14) Golden State
(4) LA Clippers- (13) Miami
(5) Denver- (12) Atlanta
(6) Brooklyn- (11) LA Lakers
(7) Milwaukee- (10) NY Knicks
(8) Dallas- (9) Portland

Damn, sign me up for this one instead.

but why have conferences then?

It’s just a way to get money that they lost due to the pandemic. When y’all start looking at this as a business first instead of a competitive sport first you’ll be much better off.

They don't want the NBA to make money fam.

I don’t love it but if it kicks up some fukkery, I’m here for it.

But at the end of the day, it’s about winning a series, so other than the 7/8 seed maybe getting bumped - everything else plays out the same. When is the last time a 7/8 seed made the finals? Exactly. So it doesn’t matter if it’s the season record 7/8 seed or the play-in 7/8 seed

Is the the entire play in tournament one game to advance? I’m pretty sure last year when Portland played Memphis, Portland was the higher seed and had to win a game, while Memphis had to win two.

Nah NBA basically saying if you ain't top 6 you don't get a spot... Who gives a shyt if the 7th seed has won 20 plus more games than the 8th seed.

The two garbage seeds are up for grabs:yeshrug:

It’s One game for the winner of 7/8 first they play then the loser of that plays the winner of 9/10

This play in shyt has been great. It's kept teams from saying fukk it we're in the playoffs so we can coast to end the season. Portland, Denver, and Lakers grinding as hard as they can to avoid the play in game in the west and Knicks, Hawks, Heat and Celtics in the East. Then you got more teams going hard at the bottom that would've long just thrown the season away. New Orleans and the Wizards definitely would've given up on the season. then you got teams even at the 7 and seed fighting hard to avoid falling back to 9-10 and teams in 9-10 going all out trying to jump up to 8. I was completely against it to start the season but to me they've found a way to keep more teams engaged for a lot longer compared to a normal season.
