This statistic, and belief hurt my head... and they aren't going away I see.
It implies (actually it straight up says) that roughly 40 percent of whites are on welfare, as are roughly 40 percent of blacks. That is not accurate. "40 percent of welfare recipients are white" which a completely different proposition than "40 percent of whites are welfare recipients"
Basically, it's trying to say, "It's about even," even though it's actually nowhere close to even.
We need to understand that there is a much higher percentage of blacks on welfare than that of whites, which is belied by this statistic. It makes it seem like the problem (whatever you think the problem is, depending on your perspective) is spread evenly, when in fact it very much is not.
