This mother, as she was beating her daughter, kept screaming about the hard work and sacrifice she makes for her daughter - feeling unappreciated. Seems to me she's making a show of FINALLY embarrassing her daughter, instead of her daughter embarrassing her.
It's just not proper parenting - discipline is about instilling long term values, positive reinforcement, and proportionate consequences.
What that mother did was just release her own personal rage.
