My whole point in the thread is that influence has to be judged in context.

That's fair, but it looks like that's not your point when you only look for influence in particular pockets...such as:

"b-b-but...what classics did they inspire?"
"b-b-but...how did they inspire UGK before one particular album?"

To be that particular about it is to infer that some "influence" is not as important as others might be.

I don't know shyt about DJ Screw, so you'll have to break that down for me if you're so inclined.

This would explain your stance a little better.
I don't want to break down Screw music in here...that's more keystrokes than I wanna type right now.

Luda got a couple beats from them on one album. Outside of that, I don't see a strong 36 influence. I'm not saying he wasn't a fan, I'm not saying there's absolutely zero influence, but strong influence? I don't see it. I need to see an explanation.

Luda had a handful of bucc songs on his first album in the Three 6 vein, which he did independently...
then on the second one, he got two beats from them and had them feature.
Then on the third one he got two beats from them again...and there were a couple other ones besides those that sounded like Three 6.

Hence why it's really not at all suprising that Juicy J was able to have such a huge comeback if you consider the fact that Juicy J & Three 6's music/production in the early 90s and even in the 00s was really so fu*king ahead of it's time

this somg song still sounds fresh as fu*k & up to date compared to a lot of the music other places were putting out at the time

The ethereal production style on this song is what mad rappers love & chase after these days

Memphis rap (and Texas as well) & three 6 birthed all this demonic & chillwave sounding trap & drill sh*t..

Raider Klan
ASAP Mob
Team Sesh
$uicideboy&
Playboi Carti (indirectly..his production)

Lot of these hipster rappers

Even some dudes like Herb & Kodak have songs with obvious Three 6 Mafia influence wether it be a sample or just a beat that sounds like some Three 6

:wow:

You just might be correct my PAWG friend :ehh:

Certainly top 1 all-time in group/label discog

And while they didn't neccessarily create or invent the sound (by themselves anyway) they're most definitelly responsible for spreading it nationwide in the late-90's/early-2000's...particularly in that pre-crunk Lil Jon/Pastor Troy ATL scene...in which their sound eventually spun off into trap and completely took over the sound of the entire genre...and even spun off into other genres (trap-soul/r&b, Trap-EDM)

Doesn't that show the limit of their sound though? They never made any real classics, and the sound that they supposedly created hasn't yielded any either.

So, by artists putting out good music, then the next generation of artists being influenced said artists, not making as good of music as them, means that shows the limit of the original artists' sound?? That should be a top dumbest post on coli. I really feel like you're just posting to meet a quota right now.

b-but...what classics did they inspire?"
That's basically my whole point though. That's not me being particular.
but...how did they inspire UGK before one particular album?
That's in response to claims other posters are making. And me having heard those albums and thinking they sound nothing like 36, so I'm asking for receipts on what Pimp said.

Fair enough.
then on the second one, he got two beats from them and had them feature.
On Back for the first time?
DJ Screw is that nikka @mobbinfms :blessed:
Never my thing breh. :yeshrug:
i am interested in the history as to how he was influenced by 36 Mafia since I know that sound was going on long before it was nationwide and I don't know the history.
Neither was Timbaland, or Swizz, or Mannie Fresh...

You wanna tell us they weren't some of the most influential in the 90s now?
If someone said they were super influential going back to the early 90s I would point out they weren't nationwide in the early 90s.
:wow: 3 6 mobbfia

So it's irrelevant than? In the context of discussions about whether they are in the top three of most influential hip hop artists ever?

I'm appuald at the low levels of incompetence quality posters have succumb too in order to discredit something so obvious :snoop:

But hey... I've seen young white folk react the same way when they discover how innovative our ancestors truly were/are its like cognitive dissonance and denial sets in before massive deflection.

theyre about to flip their arguments around and start deleting chit off of 3-6 mafia's embellished resume.
Nah. They're just gonna keep either ignoring us or making vague statements like "the sound" or "once you see it, you can't unsee it".
@CleinB is gonna double down on the colonialism angle
