They still finished first in the west. Injuries like what happened to Russy was a bit unexpected. Yeah I get that you want to have Harden as a backup but the money plus the positions they had made it difficult. Ibaka fukking up is the big dissappointment.

That was a flat out awful trade. The thunder were somewhat competitive with the heat in the finals last year. If harden plays well, they have a shot to win that series. Harden is too good to have another awful finals like that. Give that core 3 a few more years to get better and they're going to eventually beat the heat, maybe not this year but certainly within the next 3 years. You can find a guy that blocks shots and plays good help defense to come close to what ibaka gives you. You can't find a guy to give you close to what harden gives you...also, Kevin Martin is awful and those picks are going to be role players at best and non-factors at worst. Thunder really fukked up with that trade.

For one, I think they'd still make the Finals with this same team, even if Westbrook was hurt. People love to point out his shytty play in the Finals last year, but were these same people saying Cleveland/Miami should trade LeBron after he was awful in his first two Finals appearances?

Martin, a pick in an awful draft and the Mavs pick is pennies on the dollar for a talent like Harden. None of that shyt is gonna replace him. They coulda waited until this offseason to make a decision on him. Amnesty Perk and resign Harden; see how average Ibaka is, ship him out and keep Harden, etc. OKC mangled this situation, when it really wasn't that difficult of a decision.

Harden over Ibaka and it's not even close...especially the way the guards have been getting injured. It was due for Durant or Westbrook to get injured...Harden would be a good backup. Ibaka is nothing special...just a nikka that takes advantage of being a weak side defender. Keep the better player who is harder to replace...especially when these days most teams play small ball. Collinson is the best big man on their team regardless.

It's weird unlike the Houston series the Thunder are back to playing good defense.

Perk, Ibaka, and Collison have done a good job keeping that frontcourt in check but once again they're missing a reliable second option. Jackson and Fisher playing well doesn't really move the meter for them. Brooks has adjusted the offense to go through Durant and he's doing a good job getting everyone involved. Wish he would get in the post a bit more though.

But really all they need is more consistent play from Kevin Martin and Ibaka and they are fine. Memphis is still offensively inept at times and they're really just winning based on defense and hustle right now. Series is far from over for OKC.

We all see how mediocre Ibaka is and know he's overpaid. They coulda shipped his ass out and kept Harden instead, then signed someone like David West in the offseason.

No, no, no. They were never gonna offer Harden what the market dictated. A max contract for a wing player (where they already had two elite wings) that only provided 16/17 points per game and didn't start, is idiotic.
